If you're having lots of trouble replacing o-rings in a pressure washer quick connect nozzle, you're not alone. Many, many persons before you and after you waste lots of time and effort trying to replace o-rings in a pressure washer quick connect nozzle. Herein you'll find a very specific technique on how to get out old o-rings and put in new ones. You'll avoid injuring your hand in the process, since so many persons do so while trying to replace pressure wash quick connect o-rings.

You're going to need a few things to get the job done:

• 2.0 mm or less flat tip screwdriver
• Straight long nose needle-nose pliers
• Table-top vise grip

Removing the Old O-Ring in a Pressure Washer Quick Connect Nozzle

You want to stabalize the quick connect for you to more easily remove the o-ring. Put it into a table-top vise grip. Make sure the o-ring is in the best position for you to work at getting out the old o-ring. If you don't have a table top vise grip or your in a place where it isn't possible to use a table-top vise grip, just firmly hold the quick connect (female plug) in one hand, with the o-ring end toward you.

With the tip of the screwdriver, stick the o-ring with enough force so as to actually stick it into the old o-ring. With a precise and careful motion, gently pull the screwdriver with the o-ring now stuck to it out toward the middle of the inside of the quick connect or female plug. You don't necessarily need to completely get out the old o-ring, right now. Your goal at this point is to simply partially get out the old o-ring from the groove where it functions, at the least.

If when you started pulling the o-ring out of its groove it stayed stuck to the screwdriver, pull the screwdriver up out of the middle of the quick connect, trying to keep it on the screwdriver so as to get out the old o-ring as you bring the screwdriver back out of the middle of the quick connect. If the o-ring no longer remains stuck to the screwdriver, it's no big deal. That's where the next tool comes into play.

Grasp the old o-ring and pull it out by inserting the straight long nose needle nose pliers into the middle of the quick connect. If only parts of the old o-ring come out because it is partially deteriorated, repeat the screwdriver to needle nose pliers process until you get out the old o-ring entirely.

Inserting the New O-Ring in a Pressure Washer Quick Connect Nozzle

Replace o-rings in a pressure washer quick connect by inserting the new o-ring into the middle of the quick connect one half at a time. You want to get one half of the o-ring closer to the groove where its housed than the other half of the o-ring. This is because it is next to impossible to get all of the o-ring into its groove all at one time. Carefully use the screwdriver to push the o-ring into its groove, piece by piece.

Patiently work one piece of the o-ring at a time into the groove where it functions. Do not rush to insert the new o-ring into the groove; there is no shortcut to inserting the new o-ring. Again, one piece at a time insert the new o-ring into its groove until you've gone all the way around, and the new o-ring is flush in its groove.

With your little finger, feel the o-ring to make sure it is flush into its groove. If the new o-ring is not fully seated, use your finger or the screwdriver to finish pressing it into its groove. If the new o-ring is not fully seated into the pressure washer quick connect nozzle, once its under pressure you or someone else can be injured by the sudden separation of male and female plugs. And that's a simple, quick and effective technique on how to replace o-rings in a pressure washer quick connect nozzle.
