How is Representative Ron Paul Gaining so Much Young Support for His Presidential Run?

Representative Paul has made it clear on his MySpace blog what his stance are on many of the issues that many of the Nations younger voters have taken up. He has stated that he is against many of the things that his newly found constituents are also against.
He has made it a point to state that his campaign for the Presidency is built on one simple premise. Representative Paul believes that the next President has to, "Reinstate the Constitution." He believes that the US Government has stepped too far away from the basic principles that make our nation what it should be.
Representative Paul believes that the Constitution should be our guide in all maters in the US. He believes that too many politicians have disregarded the Constitution in their proposals and in their voting.
A key point that is bringing many behind his is the fact that he has never supported the Patriot Act. Representative Paul has believed since the beginning that the Patriot Act was Unconstitutional, and would eventually cause for a collapse of America as we know it.
Representative Paul believes that the Patriot Act was the first step in the wrong direction for us. He believes that many have used the Patriot Act to control the population, and not for the good of the country as a whole.
Many people believe that the Patriot Act was the first step towards an all-controlling government like the one that was written about in Orwell's 1984. Representative Paul believes this also. He states that he sees the writing on the wall about how the Act will lead to control, censorship, religious control, and many other aspects that would undermine the Constitution of the United States of America.

Representative Paul has made a significant impact on the MySpace political community. There are thousands of pages on MySpace that have been dedicated to teaching more people about the campaign of Representative Paul. He was the first of the candidates to use MySpace, and to this point, he has just about mastered it.
What is interesting is the fact that so many of the sites of people that other might consider as conspiracy theorists have backed Representative Paul. You cannot enter a forum about conspiracies, free speech, power fighting, civil rights, or any kind of anti-establishment group without seeing support for Representative Paul. He is becoming a hero to many who have very few heroes in the world.
A search of Representative Paul's friends list on MySpace will show hundred of MySpace members who have changed their personal icon from a picture of themselves, to one of him. After a day or two, a search of his friends list again will show that his number of friends has jumped since the last time explored.
By putting himself into the most familiar form of media to the younger voters (MySpace), Representative Paul has displayed to these people that he is on the same level ground as they are. This is something that many voters want in their President. There has not been a President since Kennedy that has been able to make a level connection with the American people.
Media:
There has not been very much media coverage about the candidacy of Representative Paul. His constituents are baking him stronger because of this.
Many of his supporters are actively calling for his appearance on TV to explain his views. They also believe that the reason why Representative Paul has been kept off of TV is because his views counter those of the big business that run the media that we watch every night.
This also brings Representative Paul closer to these people. They feel that they do not have a voice in society, and their new hero is dealing with the same problem that they are.
It is very interesting in today's society with all that we have gone through in the last six years that a Republican would be the poster child for many of the shunned individuals in the United States. It is interesting how many young, middle-aged, and older Democrats are getting behind this Representative from Texas.
It will be interesting to see how long it will take until the media does not have a choice but to listen to the views of Representative Paul. It will be interesting to see how many people decide that Representative Paul should gain their vote because of his views. It will be interesting to see how the other candidates respond to his growing popularity.

Post a CommentI drive through many neighborhoods everyday doing my job as a delivery driver. By far, the most lawn signs I see are for Ron Paul. In fact, today I counted 6 for Ron Paul and 1 for John Edwards and none for the so called front runners. If Hillary wins this election I will never vote again because I'll know voter fraud is a done deal and there's contamination in the electronic voting system. She is what every American hates about politics and wants a change from. There are too many skeletons in her closet including B Clinton's pardons, Hsu's illegal fundraising, and the mysterious homocide..I mean suicide of Vince Foster. Ron Paul understands what this country was founded on and what made it great. We need to focus on bettering our nation and worry less about others including Pakistan, Israel, and Iran. No more foreign aid, end the war ASAP, invest in America instead of foreign investors buying more of our country i.e. Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The man is an economic genius as well

Why then, has he consistently voted against putting troops on the border? He has not been strong on illegal immigration.
Do you know he has never accomplished anything in congress, ever. You would have to expect the same kind of presidency. Not one of his bills ever went anywhere, but he signed on to 1000 more pieces of legislation than Duncan Hunter. Do you think those 1876 pieces of legislation were all 'constitutional'? He says he only votes for 'constitutional' bills.......
Small government Ron Paul, my butt. Also he has no endorsers for president in congress. NONE. His unfavorable rating is worse than McCAins!

and 10 were successfully enact
Vincent: Your essay was written awhile ago but I just read it. Great essay! When people consider voting for a Democrat, they should remember the 2006 election. The people elected a Democratic majority in Congress in order to get us the Hell out of Iraq. Here it is late 2007 and the Democratic majority in Congress hasn't done a damn thing toward what the people elected them to do. Vote Dr. Ron Paul, (the only) hope for America!

All of his views just seem to make good sense, I'm really praying for him. I want to see him be our next president. It really angered me when CBN reporting on the msnbc republican debate that McGuiliRomney were the clear leaders in the debate when the msnbc polls showed Dr. Ron Paul as having over 80% of the votes for favorite candidate. How can a so called Christian organization plainly lie and canive so openly and obviously? That blew my mind, but then I was listening to one of my favorite pastors teaching the Word of God and he said that the "Church" was supportive of Hitler and it dawned on me. Here we are. I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Paul in 1988 and actually spent several hours chatting with him. If ever there was a person who could define the term "honest politician" it is Dr. Paul. Normally I side with Mark Twain who asked "How can you tell a politician is lying? Easy, his lips are moving." Dr. Paul is the exception.
What's really striking is that during one long chat I had with him in 1988 he warned me about the PATRIOT act. He didn't call it by that name, but he said that something like that had been prepared by the Justice Department and they were just waiting for a good excuse to submit it to Congress. 9/11 finally provided the excuse.
He also warned me (in 1988!) about 100% traceable money, national ID's, the suspension of habeas corpus, etc. Almost 20 years ago!

That is my main issue to look at when I decide to cast my vote. The Patriot Act was not the first step by a long shot, but it was the most menacing step. I would be backing him too, except for this now well-established fear of lying politicians... I'm still watching before I decide who to back, but he is on my list.
