How Do the Republican Presidential Candidates Rank in the 2008 New Hampshire Primary?

Justin
As the time until the New Hampshire primary continues to tick away, Republican candidates continue to struggle amongst each other to attract the people's vote. There is still a lot of changes that are possible, and less than half of the New Hampshire Republican primary voters strongly support their current choice. In a recent pole by Marist College, only 46 percent of the New Hampshire Republican Primary voters have a strong support for their candidate. This will allow for opinions to easily be swayed, and it may result in an unexpected outcome in New Hampshire's primary. The three Republican candidates currently in the lead are Mitt Romney, Rudy Guiliani, and John McCain. Other candidates running include Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter, but, as of now, their chances aren't looking too promising.

Former governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney, is currently the favorite to win the New Hampshire Republican primary. Current estimates have him receiving 28 percent of the votes. Mitt Romney has been thought to be a huge favorite in this state, but his lead has been getting smaller and smaller through the months. He has been faced with some serious competition from Rudy Guiliani lately, and he is going to have to keep working hard and promoting if he wants to keep his lead.

The highly popular former mayor of New York, Rudy Guiliani, is still pretty far behind Mitt Romney, but he has been catching up through the months. The recent estimate has him receiving 19 percent of the votes. This puts him nine percent behind Mitt Romney for the New Hampshire Republican primary lead, and, with the recent success he has been having, I see the gap continuing to shrink. Personally, I don't think he will overcome Romney to win the primary, but I would not be surprised if it ends up being relatively close.

The Arizona Senator, John McCain, is currently given an estimated 16 percent of votes on the recent estimate. This puts him only three percent behind Guiliani and twelve percent under Romney. Unfortunately for McCain, his campaign seems to be on a steady decline. His approval ratings have been steadily declining, and his campaign's success has followed in the same direction. The major theory out there about why this has been happening is that it's due to his adamant support of the war in Iraq. I don't see McCain as the winner of this primary, or even coming close, but there is still a little hope and possibility of it.

The last candidates in the Republican New Hampshire primary are Mark Huckabee at ten percent, Fred Thomson at six percent, Ron Paul at three percent, and both Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter at two percent each. Of course these are only estimates, but, nonetheless, their chances of winning don't look to be very promising. On the other hand, there is a large portion of Republicans that can still have their mind swayed onto a different candidate, and there is still time left to campaign. With some good campaigning and a little luck, these candidates may find themselves gaining some more supporters in time for the New Hampshire primary.

There is still plenty of time before the 2008 New Hampshire Republican primary will be held, and all the candidates still have a lot of campaigning to do. All of these current pole estimates may be found to radically change by then, so don't count any of the candidates out just yet. Romney has been the favorite in the New Hampshire Republican primary for a while, but he has been getting some serious competition, and it's not going to cease until the day of the primary closes in.

Dr. Ron Paul is slowly moving up, but, like a landslide, support starts out very small and then grows rapidly at the end!
