How to Resize Digital Pictures Without Using Photo Software

John Messina
Ever want a quick and fast way to resize your digital pictures so you can email them to friends or share them on line. Well Microsoft has made this very easy with their Power Toy plug-in for Windows XP. You can resize one picture or a selected number of pictures to a designated size or a custom size of your own choosing. Follow these simple steps below to get started.

Step1

Copy and paste this URL in your browser: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Step2

Scroll down and select Image Resizer download file that appears in the right column of the page. Select Run and the Add-on will download to your PC. Follow the install instructions on your screen, confirm user agreement and then select "Complete" install.

Step3

Locate the pictures you want to resize and highlight them by holding down the CTL-key and select each one with your mouse.

Step4:

Right click on the selected pictures and select "Resize Pictures". If you click on "Advance" you have a few more choices. NOTE: Do not select "Resize the original pictures (don't create copies)" in the "Advance Setting" unless you want to replace them with lower quality pictures.

Step5:

Once your pictures have been resized you can email them using your favorite email client or webmail. You can also upload them to the web to share them on line.
