How to Resize Photos on Your Computer

Resizing is one of the processes to "treat" your digital photo. It will change the size to adjust with your using purpose (like to print, to put into your digital player...)

Normally, resizing feature is only in professional software. If you only want to resize, you do not have to use big programs like Adobe Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro... These programs will take a lot of your system resource. I recommend you to use Fotosizer. It is a 750KB freeware. You can download it here.

This program is very simple to use and very "light" for your system resource. "Fotosizer" is able to resize .bmp, .jpeg, .jpg, .jif, .png, .tga and .gif files to .jpeg files. It makes images smaller in size but still keeps their quality. You can resize your picture by pixels, widths, heights or percentage of original picture. Besides that, "Fotosizer" can change your pictures to black and white.

Resize several photos:

After installing and activating "Fotosizer", click "Add Image" (on the left side). Locate the photos you want to resize (Remember to hold Shift button to choose as many photos as you want at the same time). Click "Open". A list of selected photos will appear in "Image Selection" section. You will see the thumbnail of the photos you pick. "Fotosizer" also provides some information like the photos' links, sizes, file types...

You can choose to resize your photos by "Custom Size" or "Percentage of Original".

Custom Size: Resizing your picture by the size that you choose. You have to type in the width and height (the unit is pixel). For example, 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480...

Percentage of Original: Resizing your picture by your desired percentage. Similar to "Custom Size", you have to put and the percentage of the width and height of the original picture you want to resize (the unit this time is percent %). I recommend you to mark "Maintain aspect ratio of" to keep your picture balance.

Mark "Convert to Greyscale" if you want your picture black and white. In "Destination settings" section, click "Browse for Folder" (has the symbol of a yellow folder). Locate where you want to save the resized photos. Then, click "Start". The resized photos will have the same name as your original photos with the extension .JPEG.

Resize entire folder:

Click "Add Folder" (instead of clicking Add Image in Resize Several Photos). Mark "Include Sub-folders" if you want. Click "OK". Then, follow all of the steps similar to "Resize Several Photos" section.

With only about 750 KB, "Fotosizer" is a very useful software to help you resizing your photos. It is also compatible with all versions of Windows. I hope this freeware would help you to resize your digital photos.
