There are many teams in the National Football League that are searching for the right quarterback that will lead them to the football promised land, the Super Bowl Championships. While most teams have a set quarterback that they know will play the majority of the football season, there are a few football teams that are still searching for the final piece of the puzzle. For these teams the quarterback controversy can be a source of pre season excitement and also leave fans with a slight feeling or worry as the regular season approaches!

The first thing NFL teams can do to resolve a quarterback controversy is to do their research during the draft. A first rate NFL team knows their needs, does their homework, and only selects quarterbacks who are almost a sure thing. Cultivating a quarterback in your system is much easier for the club and the football player.

If a quarterback controversy arises, it is usually because a player was underperforming. One way to keep players on their toes and interested and dedicated is to have strong back up players who want to play and work hard in football practice. For example, Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks of the current era but as we have seen the New England Patriots have had an abundance of capable backup quarterbacks pushing Brady.

If the football players are not the reason for the controversy, then the coaching staff or the team ownership may be to blame. For example, a new coach and a new regime may cause disruption in the team core and cause quarterback shifting. Additionally, some veteran quarterbacks may be sent to pasture when a new coaching system comes to an NFL team. All of the controversy starts from the top down. A competent ownership system plans for the future and knows that a capable, leader qualified quarterback can make or break not only an NFL season but also an entire NFL franchise or dynasty.

Overall, a quarterback controversy is usually a good situation to be in, when you have two strong quarterbacks fighting for the starting job. However, quarterback controversies become a problem when no quarterback takes ownership of the position and the team and exudes leadership. Whatever the case, the NFL quarterback controversies will all be resolved. For good or for bad, by the first game of the NFL regular season.
