Here are the supplies you'll need:
1. Scissors
2. Pencil, black marker
3. Ruler
4. Clear tape
5. Colored or neon poster board (22 x 28)
6. Letters printed out on a Word Document (optional)
7. Letter Stencils (optional)
Step by Step Directions:
Step 1
Go to a craft store or art store and buy a few sheets of colored poster board. If you go to the florist/crafts section you can find more selection. Make sure you use poster board because you want it to be sturdy and durable when you hold it up.
Step 2
Cut the poster board into four equal parts. Each part should be 11" x 14".
Step 3
Use a pencil and mark light borders for each poster board. I used a 1 inch border for the top and bottom of each letter and 1-2 inch border for the sides. You can play around with these numbers.
Step 4
Draw each individual letter with a black marker or paint. If you don't want to draw them out you can print the letters from the computer or use stencils.
Step 5
Arrange the letters of the name and tape them together. You can also spell out the word "congratulations" or use other graphics. I use wide duct tape (1.88 inch or 48 mm) for durability. Place tape on the front and back of each letter to secure the poster.
You graduation poster board is done!
If you need to make another poster board simply make new letters or use a scissor and cut the tape between the letters of a previous arrangement. These poster boards are durable and will last for several years. Depending on each year you might add or make additional letters. You can also hang or display these poster boards at a Graduation party or Birthday celebration. Feel free to share or tweak these ideas. If you have any questions or suggestions for improvements feel free to leave a comment.
