1. Freshness
Keeping your coffee beans in an airtight container away from strong light will help maintain its freshness. Putting them in the freezer will only spoil the flavor and color due to the process of condensation. Avoid the freezer and put them on the shelves instead. This will make your cup of coffee fresh every time.
2. Grind or Texture
If the beans are ground too much, your coffee will become bitter. But remember not to make it coarse, as this will cause a watery flavor. Choose the right type of texture for the ultimate taste.
3. Proportion
The amount of coffee you put in a cup of water will have a huge effect on the taste. Try to experiment with different amounts of coffee in your cup to know exactly which one you prefer. Some people like it stronger, and sometimes they like it weaker, but it does not matter since everyone's taste varies. Most experts suggest two tablespoons per sixty ounces of water to experience the ultimate taste.
4. Materials and Equipment
Brewing materials that are not clean will affect the taste of your coffee. After washing, always make sure that you have rinsed it thoroughly with clean, bottled water so that all soap residues will be rinsed off. This will also remove germs in the equipments and avoid them from getting inside your body.
5. Water
The kind of water that you use to make coffee is very important to consider. Using pure bottled water will ensure that there will be no other taste to interfere with the rich flavor of coffee. Ordinary tap water will add the taste of chlorine and other substances that may spoil the taste of coffee. If you are already used to these tastes then maybe you will not be able to notice them anymore. Not many people know it, but coffee tastes so much better with bottled water. It does not have chemicals that may harm you; it only contains minerals that are beneficial to your body. The next time you make some coffee, try to put bottled water into your percolator, and you may just taste the big difference.
