How to Get Rid of Ants in Your Home

Ants are pesky little creatures that will swarm at the first scent of sugar and sweets. Even one drop can have sections of your home crawling with ants. There are a list of things that can be done to get rid of ants and I will list some of them.

How To Get Rid of Ants In Your Home - Peppermint Oil

Wiping down all surfaces in your kitchen and making sure that there are no drops and crumbs of food on the counters, cabinets or floor is something that you should check for everyday. Once that is done, get a damp cloth and put a few drops of peppermint oil on it and wipe down the counters again. Ants do not like the scent of peppermint oil and that helps to keep them away.

How To Get Rid of Ants In Your Home - Sprays

This step is best for people who do not have children or pets around. Find the places that the ants like to go to and spray some raid or other ant killers for a quick fix. New sprays on the market comes unscented to help keep your house from smelling like bug spray. However if you spray too much you will still smell it.

How To Get Rid of Ants In Your Home - Chalks

In some specialty stores, there are chalks that you can use to help get rid of ants and other bugs. Pull out the refrigerator and stove and write in the bottom areas of your kitchen and other places in the home.

How To Get Rid of Ants In Your Home - Powders

Also for people without children or pets are special powders that you can drop behind furniture and other items that are out of the way. These powders are great on ants and roaches that might be hiding out.

The best advice to get rid of ants is to try and keep the kitchen clean, uncluttered and wiped down. Get glass or plastic containers that are sold in most stores and take cereal out of their boxes and put them in these air tight containers. Do the same for snacks like cookies and potato chips that do not reclose.

Wipe up any mess or spills immediately and do not let them linger. When you have a spill, try to make sure that you have cleaned up the entire mess. Look closely at the cupboards and cabinets between items such as the cupboard and refrigerator because even a crumb can have roaches and ants looking for their next meal.
