Getting rid of belly fat not only helps you look good, but it also boosts your self-esteem and helps you to feel great about your body. I mean imagine the feeling of strolling along the beach with the conscious knowledge that your abs are the "most viewed item". A lot of guys seem to think that very few men are naturally blessed with six pack abs, an the rest of us mere mortals will just have to make do with what we've got.

Actually the truth is quite the reverse, everybody has six pack abs, its just that with most of us, those six pack abs are hidden under a thick layer of fat. When trying to get six pack abs, a lot of guys usually resort to crunches and sit-ups, despite the fact that practically everybody now knows that when it comes to getting six pack abs, crunches and sit-ups are practically useless.

When you carry out crunches and sit-ups, what you're doing is you're just strengthening and toning up the abdominal muscles that are buried deep under your belly fat, without doing anything to actually get rid of that belly fat. Now, don't get me wrong, sit-ups and crunches are very, very effective . . . if you've already lost your belly fat, and because they help to keep your belly from looking loose and flabby and help to strengthen and tone up your abs.

In order to get rid of belly fat, you need to take a 3-pronged approach.

1. Limit Your Calorie Intake

2. Carry out Cardio Exercises

3. Do Crunches & Sit-ups.

1. Limiting Your Calorie Intake

The reason you've got belly fat is because your body stores the excess calories it doesn't need in the form of fat in various places around your body, and your stomach happens to be one of those places. So the 1st step towards getting rid of belly fat and allowing your six pack abs to show it to minimize the amount of calories you take in per day. The recommended maximum daily calorie intake for men is 1,500 calories, so remember not to exceed this limit.

2. Carrying out Cardio Exercises

Limiting your calorie intake is the first step, now you've got to carry out cardios, which are basically exercises that use up a lot of calories, as an example, lets say you take in about 1,200 calories in a day, and daily you carry out exercises that require 1,500 cals, where do you think your body'll get the extra calories it needs from? That's right, from the energy that's stored in the form of fat in various place around your body (including your abdominal region).

3. Doing Crunches & Sit-ups.

Now that you've started losing your belly fat, you need to carry out crunches and sit-ups in order to to keep your belly from looking loose and flabby when you finally lose your stomach fat, and to tone up your abs and make them looked hard and ripped.

Just follow the simple steps above, and 6 weeks from now, you'll be strolling around the beach with your abs carved out like that of a spartan warrior.
