Acne on the chest is downright embarrassing. Contrary to popular belief, acne on the chest, commonly referred to as chestne, affects women and men both. Many people suffer simply because they don't know how to get rid of acne on the chest and don't want to ask. While there are different ways to get rid of acne, it's a little bit different when it comes to acne in this area and may depend what the acne is caused by.

As with any other area on the body, washing the area appropriately may help alleviate the acne on the chest. This may seem like common sense, but there is more to it than this. Those that may work out fairly frequently, or tend to perspire more may have to wash the area more often to avoid and get rid of chestne. Using a cleanser with a mild acidic base that is used to treat other forms of acne may help. In addition, waxing or shaving the chest may add to this type of acne so regular exfoliation of the chest area is also key when dealing with chest acne.

Chest acne may also be affected by the garments that the person wears. Unbreathable materials can add to the bacteria that could be contribute to acne on the chest. Wearing cotton shirts can easily help prevent this by allowing air to get to the area and avoiding friction. Spandex, polyester, and other similar attire should not be worn if it can be prevented. This alone can make a big difference when dealing with chestne, regardless if the cause is bacterial or not.

One of the best ways to help treat chest acne is by eliminating the cause. Just like break outs on the face, there can be a variety of culprits. Stress and certain types of products will contribute to chest acne in some individuals. Avoiding these things may be enough to help cut back on the chestne you have now and future outbreaks. Use of lotions and oils should not be entirely eliminated, but rather used in moderation. Some individuals may also find that changing to oil free or other products suited for their particular skin type will be of great assistance.

Chest acne can be managed effectively and often avoided. However, some persons may require more than over the counter remedies. A dermatologist can assist those that suffer from acne on the chest and may be the best bet for those with scarring chestne that won't go away.
