How to Get Rid of a Hangover

We've All Woken Up with One, Here's How to Combat It

Nobody enjoys getting a hangover, especially after a great night of partying. Many people try to fend off a hangover the next day by downing lots of water the night before or by taking an ibuprofen as well. Others try simple sayings to try to keep them out of the toilet. Common ones include, "Beer before liquor, never sicker", "Wine before beer, oh dear", and "Liquor before beer, you are in the clear." However, if you drink in excess these sayings could mean absolutely nothing the next morning.

Two simple things you can do to avoid hangovers before drinking are having a full meal and choosing a neat grain to drink all night. You want to eat a full meal and have a lot of water because the excess water will get rid of the dehydration that comes along with hangovers. Try choosing to drink just one simple drink all night, such as whiskey or vodka (probably the two most popular) and stick to those. The problem when going out is sharing and mixing drinks, this will lead to a hangover most of the time.

There is no set cure for a hangover and some "cures" work better than others, so try some out once in awhile to see which one works best for you. Here are some quick hangover cures:

Soda and ibuprofen. Take two ibuprofens with a Coke, the ibuprofens will alleviate the headache while the sugar and carbonation from the soda will help settle your stomach.

Drink more. Yes this seems ridiculous, but slug down a Mimosa for breakfast and you will be feeling a lot better by the end of your pancakes.

The infamous prairie oyster. Ever watch Back to the Future 3? The "wake up" juice made by the bartender for Doc Brown after he took a shot of whiskey and passed out immediately? That's what this is. The ingredients include, one raw egg, one teaspoon of tomato juice, one teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, and dashes of Tabasco sauce, salt, and pepper. After adding all the ingredients, you drink the whole thing in one gulp. Remember, you are not drinking for taste.
