Step 1 - Find a nice quiet place with dim lighting. Bright lights could make your headache worse. You may chose to sit or lie down just as long as you are as comfortable as possible. Make sure to remove your glasses if you wear them. Close your eyes and takes a few deep breaths, relax.
Step 2 - With the finger tips of both hands slowly begin to massage the scalp around the ears and at the base of the skull. Apply enough pressure so that the skin moves underneath your fingers. Continue this process for about 3 minutes.
Step 3 - Using both hands with the fingers together, begin massaging the back of the neck on both sides of the spine. Work your way down to the base of the neck and back up again. Repeat this process 6 times.
Step 4 - Position your hands in a loose fist position with the thumbs pointing upward. With your eyes closed, place the thumbs under the eyebrows at the bridge of the nose and apply light pressure for about 45 seconds. Re-position your thumbs to the center of the eyebrows just below the eyebrow and apply light upward pressure for 45 seconds. Now move to the outer corner of the eyes and apply light pressure for another 45 seconds. Bring the thumbs to the underside of the cheek bones directly below the eyes and apply light pressure again for 45 seconds.
Step 5 - Bring the hands to each temple and using the pads of the first two fingers, begin to massage in a oval circular motion. Continue this process slowly for two to three minutes. Now with the fingers still on the temples move each thumb to the jaw bone just below the cheek bone and apply light pressure for 30 seconds. Then slowly slide your thumbs down to your lower jaw bone causing a slight stretch.
Step 6 - Using the thumb and the forefinger of one hand, lightly pinch the skin between the thumb and forefinger of the other hand. These are pressure points. Hold this position for about 90 seconds and then do the same thing to the other hand. Next gently massage the tips of each finger on each hand, do this for about 30 seconds on each finger. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can repeat this same process on the toes of each foot as well. Last, grasp the tip of the small toe between the forefinger and thumb and apply light pressure for about one minute, do this on both feet.
