How to Get Rid of Your Junk

Are You a Mom Living Like a Pack Rat?

Have you ever started cleaning out a room in your home only to find old papers that date back almost 10 years or more? Some people just can not bring themselves to throw their personal items away, no matter how old they are. Everyone has a small junk drawer in there home, because they just do not know what to do with those little things.

If you actually took the time to go through your attic or basement you would probably find tons of stuff. But would you be able to get rid of them, or would you just transfer them to a new box for storage. Most people keep their kids baby clothes and tons of pictures, because of the found memories that you have when you look at them. There are a few things that you can do to get rid of the clutter and junk.

The first thing you will want to do is get at least 2 big storage tubs. Anything that you really want to keep can go in these bins. If you can not fit everything into the bins then you have too much stuff and need to get rid of a few more things. To minimize the amount of stuff you have you can think of ways to hold on to the memories and shrink the amount of stuff. For example you can take pictures of your kids artwork and make an album out of the pictures, and then throw away the originals. When it comes to your children's pictures you can get separate boxes for each child and then put their names on the front.

Then pick your favorite pictures from each age or stage and place them in the boxes. Everything else you can throw out. If you still have things from your school years just throw them all out. That part of your life has ended and it is time for you to move on. Another thing that you can do if you have a lot of items that are still in good condition is place them on eBay and sell them. There is nothing wrong with making a little profit off of your junk.

There are also plenty of shows that you can watch to get suggestions on how to get rid of your junk like TLC and HGTV where people get their junk reduced to nothing. The problem is that many people have sentimental value attachment to items and can not let go. Besides who wants to live in a cluttered house. Some people end up getting more junk when someone in their family passes away.

They usually find it very hard to get rid of these items. Not to mention the billion boxes packed here and there in bedrooms and spare room full of junk. The bottom line is not to keep everything since you were a baby, but only keep the things that you really need and want.

I would disagree with getting rid of photos of your children, no matter how many photos you have
