Do you have a problem with aggravating pest? So, one night, you walk to your pantry to grab yourself something to eat and out crawls those moths. Then you notice there are more. By this time you'll probably be so frustrated and worried you can't even think straight. How did they even get there? Surely you don't want to touch them to get rid of them. Pantry moths have caused a couple of households some problems, because they are not easy to get rid of. Here are a couple of tips on how to get rid of kitchen moths. If you are dealing with these pesty things, I hope the tips in this guide will help you free yourself of these things because I know first-hand how aggravating they can be and I surely sympathize with you.
First, you will need to clean your pantry or the area they are in, completely out. As a matter of fact, get everything out and leave the entire pantry empty. If you don't want to pull everything out of the pantry, you may be able to just pull the container or box out that is infested with the moths. However, if you only get rid of the box they are in, there may be more and you just don't see them at that moment. So, the best way to go is to clean the entire thing out. Yes, it will be quite a bit of work, but it will help you in the long run.
Since the pantry is empty, you will now be able to do some thorough cleaning. You can use a bleaching solution to clean the entire area that has been filled with food at one time or another. This will definitely kill whatever eggs or larvae they have left behind and at the same time, kill bacteria and germs they take along with them. You can also use a mix of Pine-sol and water to do your cleaning. Once you have cleaned the pantry good, leave it open to dry out.
Another method to help get rid of them is placing bay leaves in the pantry. There is something about bay leaves these bugs just don't like. Take the leave and grind them up. Then place them inside of a wash cloth or something similar. Fold the cloth up and tie it. Then place it in the pantry. Once a month, replace the leaves with fresh ones. This should help keep the moths out of your pantry.
Peppermint is also a good way to get rid of kitchen moths. Peppermint extract can be poured into a tiny dish and then placed inside the pantry. Be careful where you place it though so you won't spill it when you place something in the pantry or get it out.
