How to Get Rid of Mosquitos and Their Bites!

The Lazy Home Owner's Guide to Mosquito Control

Amy Barnes
I will put it bluntly - I had a few "light bulb" moments and made a few discoveries into mosquito control and accidentally discovered two ways to control or get rid of bites. Here is my Lazy Home Owner's Guide to mosquito and bite control!
  • Use Skin So Soft bath oil - there is a spray head option (it's the 5 ounce size). This will repel skeeters for a few hours or so, if you use enough. (You can buy it online - youravon.com/abarnes007)
  • Beer bottles! Yep - ask guests to leave a bit in the bottle and place them on the perimeter of a party or gathering and nasty insects will go inside the bottles (and slugs, too - they love beer.)
  • Attract and waste - set still water sources out for the mosquitos, and periodically empty as needed - what this does is allow females to lay their eggs there. But don't just toss them anywhere - make good use of any ant hills and drop the larvae water near an ant hill so the ants eat the larvae. This is a passive form of pest control, and can cut down the number of mosquitos that breed.
  • Have some fun - go ahead and test your killing skills by clapping them to death.
  • Praying mantises and bats love to eat mosquitos and bat houses / mantis cocoons can be bought.
Aw, gee - did you get BIT? Try the Foot Works Cracked Heel Cream. I know - the name includes "Cracked Heel," but the cream is good for a LOT more than just cracked heels. At $2 to $3 a tube when on sale, you get an analgesic (pain relief) and antiseptic (prevents some infections) cream.
