How to Get Rid of Pimples Fast

Pimples are the most obvious symptom of acne, and the most embarrassing. The worst part is they seem to take forever to go away. Following are 5 easy steps and tips on how to get rid of pimples fast, safely, and permanently.

1. Eat plenty of vegetables and fiber.

Eating fresh vegetables is vital. The vitamins and minerals help your body to fight off internal infections which leaves time and energy to fight off external infections which cause acne. Fiber keeps your gastrointestinal (GI) tract healthy which leaves more room for removing toxins that cause acne and other skin problems. Certain vegetables are very important like carrot, avocado, garlic, cauliflower, beet, okra, spinach, peas, corn, broccoli, cucumber, and artichoke.

2. Eat fruit instead of sweets.

Fruits contain vitamin C which is necessary for production of those infection fighting cells of the body. Most fruit also contains fiber which is good for your GI health. Combined these two ingredients make for an acne fighting machine. The best fruits are fresh, and the best fresh fruits are apple, apricot, blueberry, cherries, pear, pomegranate, papaya, strawberry, and watermelon. Pomegranate is considered the best detoxifying fruit, so try to drink at least one 4 ounce glass every day. Mixed with blueberry it is most satisfying as well.

3. Drink Plenty of Water

Experts say you should drink 8-12 glasses of water each day. But what size glass? I prefer to look at it as 60-100 ounces of water each day. This sounds like a lot, but those 20 ounce bottles you drink you only need 3-5 each day! The best part is that if you eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables you only need about 60 ounces each day, the rest of your daily water intake is in the fruit and vegetable juice. Water helps flush the system of toxins and helps your kidneys to process infection and toxins. Water also gives your skin elasticity and keeps it soft. The healthier the skin the better it is able to fight infection and acne. Be careful with water though, too much water will overwork your kidneys and they will eventually shut down causing more problems than you were trying to prevent. Stick to the rule of thumb, drink at least 60 ounces, but only drink when you are thirsty; your body knows when it has had enough.

4. Keep good hygiene

Remembering to wash your acne prone areas at least twice a day will help to fight infection, but you also need to keep the rest of your body clean. Acne tends to occur in explosions, if you start to see pimples on your face it may be because your body is not being kept clean and healthy. If you wash your face but not your hands then the dirt, oil, and bacteria from your hands get on your face and you still end up with a breakout which will spread anywhere your hands touch. You can try some over the counter acne medications, but remember that basic hygiene is still the key. All the acne treatment in the world is worthless if you can't even wash your hands.

5. Talk to your doctor

If you have adjusted your diet, tried the over the counter medications, drink plenty of water and still get acne it is time to see the doctor. Your family doctor or pediatrician can take an initial look and see if they can diagnose the problem. It may not be just acne, it could be rosacea, eczema or psoriasis. If your family doctor cannot help they can refer you to a dermatologist, a skin specialist, to diagnose and treat your problem. There is help, but you have to make the first move.
