How to Get Rid of Ticks in Your Home

Shannon Frye
Getting rid of ticks is somewhat easy to do. I rarely find any ticks inside of my home. I haven't found a tick inside of my home is the past 4 years. I find that if you have pets which like to go outside a lot of the time, you will see more ticks inside of your home. If you are more active, such as a jogger or walker, you will also find more ticks inside of your home. This is because ticks are outside, in grassy areas and on trees. Deer hunters will also have a battle with ticks inside of their homes as well.

Ticks can be a big problem. Do not think that ticks are nothing to worry about. Deer ticks actually cause Lyme's disease, which will kill animals and you in the long run. Deer ticks are a lot smaller than your average tick and they are common. If you ever find a tick in your home, flush it down the toilet or wash it down the drain in your sink. Ticks are bad news.

Ticks come in with pets that are outdoors. If you have a lot of long grass around your home, you might want to consider chopping down this grass so that the ticks do not get on your pets. The ticks will sit in the grass and wait for a dog or cat to come by. If you live by a greenbelt, make sure that your pets do not go into the greenbelt because they can get a lot of ticks from the shrubs and plants in the green belt. If you take your dog for walks in the woods, make sure to check you and your dog for any ticks.

Ticks should not be taken lightly. Ticks should be eliminated from your home as much as possible. If you are a deer hunter, make sure to check all of your clothing so that you do not get any ticks inside of your home. Check your body parts for ticks as well. Ticks usually start at your pant legs or your shoes and work their way up. Check your scalp for ticks as well. When ticks get full of blood, they will drop off of you. Deer ticks will embed themselves in your body and can cause Lyme's disease.

The best thing that you can do is make sure to check your home, your pets and yourself for ticks. Cut down long grass around your home and keep pets away from these areas. If you go walking or jogging in the woods or long grass, make sure to check yourself before you come inside.

I have never read comments on blogs or pages before. After reading the above, I am cured of ever doing so again. One man writes something that is not helpful, and you all waste time commenting on it and with such animosity??? It's amazing that you all don't have anything better to do with your time that write such crap. And don't bother to bash me. Once I click "post comment", I will exit and never return. So please, don't waste your time. There are so many IMPORTANT things to comment on. God help you all!!!

what the heck was that? this did not help whatsoever. thanks for nothing.

  • And so, where is the answer??6/8/2009

Shannon should actually have something to post before putting this out on the net. It wasted a lot of good peoples time. I got better answers from posters. I also have heard that if you put a dish of soapy water in a corner, the bugs jump out of the carpet into to the soap dish and drown. I would like to know if there is a powder, or spray that can be used in a house with an aquarium, and why isn't the oil/drop medication working on our dog???

did you stick the title from the wrong article on this story? Kinda like saying fixing your computer is kinda easy, just optimize it and get rid of any viruses. There, that is all there is to it. Your welcome for the info.
