How Do I Get it Right?

In one way or the other, one may have doubted about something. In another way, we may have regretted doubting something which came true. A famous chief, financially buoyant had a son, a young man getting ready for his 25th birthday and graduation from the University at same period. For many months he had loved an exquisite sports car (a Honda type) at a dealer's showroom. Knowing his father could well afford it, he told the car dealer to reserve the car. The young man told his father that was all he wanted as his birthday/graduation gift.

As the celebration day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, the father called him into his private study room. He told him how proud he was to have a wonderful son and told him how much he loved him. He handed to his son a magnificently wrapped gift box. Curious but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely buckskin bound BIBLE with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said "with all your money you gave me a BIBLE?" stormed out of his father's house leaving the Bible.

Twelve years afterward, the young man had declined in his business career. He had a restive and troublesome family, but then he realized his father was very old and thought perhaps he should go to him because he had not seen him since that day he angrily left the papa. Before he could make arrangements, he got a mail from his mail box informing him his father had passed away and willed all his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search his father's documents and saw the relaxing new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. However, with tears, he opened the Bible and browsed through the pages. His father had underlined a verse (Matthew 7:11...."And if you being evil, know how to give good gift to your children how much more shall your heavenly father, which is in heaven, give to those who ask him?")

As he read those words, a car key dropped from the inside back cover of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer who had the sports care he had desired. On the tag was the date of his birthday/graduation and the words. Again he had a flash back on what the dad told him when he left the house that he would only get it right by his instruction. He wept like he had never did before altering loudly how his own wife and three kids have been causing trauma to him due to their impatience.

You would understand that he had no patient. In the same vein, he neglected the gift by the father. How many times do we reject God's blessings because they are not packaged as we expected?

I like this article very much. It is so true that in our haste and haughtiness of heart we often overlook not only blessings that we have believed for, but the blessings that we did not even think to ask for that a good Father gives His children.

Very good! I really like this article. Patience is a virtue. Like they say, "Good things come to those who wait." In most cases, this is true.
