First you will need to have two cake mixes, the amount of eggs for both mixes, the amount of oil or water for each mix, non-stick cooking spray, an apple, a small can of crushed pineapple, some flaked coconut, three tubs of icing, food coloring, a 13 inch by 9 inch pan, one cupcake paper and a 2 quart Pyrex bowl. First you will prepare one cake mix according to the instructions on the box and then add in half of the crushed pineapple drained, and ¼ cup of flaked coconut. You will then prepare the cake pan and Pyrex bowl that you will be using. Spray each generously with the non-stick spray. This will make the cakes very easy to pop out of the pan and bowl. You will then pour this cake mix into the cake pan. You will then prepare the other cake mix, adding the same amount of coconut and pineapple, and pour it into the Pyrex Bowl; you will only fill the bowl until it is ¾ full. You will then pour enough remaining batter into the cupcake paper. If you have any more batter left, you can make more cupcakes. You will then bake the cakes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
Bake each of the cakes and cupcakes until they are done by the toothpick test. If you do not know how to do the toothpick test all you do is insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If the toothpick is clean when you pull it out the cake is done. The cupcake will be baked through within a little time, so it will need to be pulled out first. When the cakes are done pull them out and let them cool for 15 minutes. Flip them out of the pan and bowl and then let them cool completely. When they are all cooled you are ready to assemble the cake.
First you will cut the 13 inch by 9 inch cake so it is a 9 inch by 9 inch square. You will then tint one can of the frosting green and then ice the 9 inch by 9 inch square green. You will then place the round cake that was baked in the Pyrex bowl on top of the square cake. You will need to put it almost to the bottom of the square so you will be able to add ears to the top. You will then cut ears out of the 4 inch by 9 inch rectangle that you trimmed from the base cake. You will then need to place them next to the round cake to make the pigs head. You will then take the cupcake and place it in the center of the round cake for the nose. After you do all of this you will frost all of the pig with a tub of frosting that has been tinted pink with the food coloring. You will have one more tub left, which will give you plenty to make the eyes, outline the ears, and make nostrils on the nose. See the pattern to see how all of this is done. When you have iced the pig pink, you can then take a little coconut and tint it with a little red food coloring, but make it lighter than the pink frosting. This will be put in the middle of the ears to make them look like the insides of the ears. You can then make part of the remaining tub of icing black with food coloring. This will be what you use to outline the ears, eyes, and nostrils. See the pattern and make the nostrils black, the outline and eyes, and the outline of the inside of the ears.
You will need to cut the apple in half. You will then need to place the cut apple to make it look like the pig has it stuffed in his mouth. This is the completed cake. It is not hard to make, and will make a Hawaiian Luau Party special.
