How to Get Robbed While Working at a Bank

clarissa
While working at a well-known bank, I had to constantly keep myself up to date on how not to get robbed. It's actually pretty funny that when I began training to be a bank teller, I completely forgot that banks often get robbed. It wasn't until I had to sign something that covered me just in case I was killed, that the truth finally sunk in. Banks do get robbed at gunpoint. While the bank informed its employees on ways of how not to get robbed, let me assure you that there are many ways to still get robbed while working at a bank.

Be totally unaware of your surroundings.
At all times keep your head down as you count the money, enter the figures, and give out the money. Do not notice who comes in or who goes out of the bank. Never say hi or bye to anyone, not even your own customers. Become totally and utterly consumed with the process of counting your money. Makes sure that you believe that all that really matters is your drawer not coming up short at the end of the workday.

Forget the names and faces of all of the customers.
When anyone comes up to you and tells you their name, immediately forget it, and continue to count the money. If someone tries to start a conversation with you, make a bit of small talk for a few seconds and then double check and recheck that you have counted the money correctly. Focus on the numbers, the paper, and the cents. Totally forget about whoever is standing in front of you.

Forget the rules and regulations of the bank
You just started right? Certainly there must be some room for you to grow as an employee. Therefore, take your time growing and give yourself that little, "I'm a new employee" excuse. When someone quizzes you on how to get into this or get out of that, politely say, " I don't know. Was I here when we were told that?" Give a cute laugh. Flash a charming smile and promise that you will write things down next time.

Lose your combos and misplace your keys often.
You don't need them right? You are always ten minutes late anyways, and by the time you get to work, everything has been unlocked and put away. Therefore, what do you need to keep up with all of those random numbers for? As a new employee, you should be expected to forget things every once and awhile. Therefore, lose you keys and misplace your combos not once, but many times.

To sum everything up, in order to get robbed while working at a bank what you must do is not take your job seriously. If you just got hired, they must need you right? Well then take advantage of that and daily you should make an effort to forget what you were taught about safety and security. Pretty soon, you will find yourself utterly engrossed with counting and recounting the dollars and cents. You will not even notice that your customer has a mask on. Eventually your bank will be robbed, and the person who panics and doesn't know what to do will probably be you.

Actually, in all my years of banking, I've encountered quite a few bank clerks who do this.
