Robots in the bathroom? How is that possible? Well, the creative geniuses at iRobot, the very same ones who invented the nifty Roomba carpet cleaning robot, have just developed the iRobot Scooba to make cleaning bathroom floors a little easier. That's right, a nifty little robot for bathroom duty. You really have to wonder where else robots will turn up today's modern home. So far, we've seen them clean carpets, adjust lighting and home alarm systems, and put to work as electronic cat litter pans.
How a Robot Cleans a Bathroom Floor
The iRobot Scooba is a little over three inches tall and six inches in diameter to make bathroom tile and floor cleaning a snap. The Scooba's 3-stage cleaning system does the work for you in the bathroom and beyond, and won't charge you extra for gawking. There's a 3-stage cleaning system in Scooba that's key to how the robot effectively cleans dirt and grime off the bathroom tile or floor. This little monster washes, scrubs down and, if you can believe, squeegees the floor to save you the time and the trouble. Once iRobot Scooba's done its job, brush clean up is a snap. Besides convenience, iRobot promises that 97% of the bacteria in and around the bathroom floor is neutralized by this little robot. Amazing stuff, for sure.
Built to Last and More
The iRobot Scooba isn't some novelty item. On the contrary, its manufacturer made sure that it's built to last and holds enough fluid to clean 150 square feet of floor and more. You don't have to worry about wet floors or soap film. The iRobot Scooba's sophisticated technology takes care of all these details, and even lets you know when its bathroom duty is complete. What a deal, right?
iRobot Scooba Hefty Price Tag
If you're skeptical as I am about the iRobot Scooba, among other robot makes and models for the home, you should be. Anyone who lives in an older home would find little about this home improvement item all that useful in confined spaces. In addition, the iRobot Scooba isn't cheap, clocking in at $399 and more, depending upon the model you choose. It may be that for many of us, a bucket and mop would be more cost effective. But, if time or mobility is an issue or, perhaps, if you're just looking for something to take the "yuk factor" out of your bathroom floor cleaning duties, the iRobot Scooba may just be for you. In addition, you may have the kind of home that is amenable to the iRobot Scooba, where a robot may just be the thing you need to keep up with the heavy demands on your bathroom space. If not, get out the bucket and mop with the rest of us and hope that the bathroom floor dries before company arrives.

Post a CommentThis was a great article and introducing folks to robots.
Love robots. I have several IRobots: Dirt Dogs, IRoomba, I even purchased the Create model where I can (don't tell anyone at IRobot) tear it apart and study it.
I have friends now who swear by them. Good overall view.
wow, interesting.
Scary isn't it?
Fascinating news.
My goodness! What will they think up next ?! cheers for the bathroom robot info
Eek! They are taking over the world! There is an advertisement on this page for the iRobot Verro, the Pool Cleaning Robot. As for the one that cleans the bathroom floor, it still freaks me out that the toilet knows when to flush when I am done, like it has been watching me.

I wish I had a robot to do all my housework!
I remember deciding to strip the old wax off the kitchen floor years ago. I mean, it wasn't like company was coming over or anything. I had just got the TSP and water down when the doorbell rang. Looking like the wreck of the Hesperus, I opened the door to find my husband's uncles come for a visit. I tiptoed into the kitchen, brought the coffee and coffee maker out to the living room and fixed coffee, knowing I could use the fine china to serve it in. The three uncles set to work and had the floor scubbed lickity split, and rinsed it down so I could rewax it when it dried. We enjoyed cookies and coffee and they hugged me before they left. Much sweeter than a roomba or any other robot :) Thanks for the great information.
