How Rodan + Fields Lip Renewing Serum Changed My Lips

An Overview and Review of the Rodan + Fields Anti-Age Lip Renewing Serum

Kathryn E. Darden
When Rodan + Fields introduced their new Anti-Age Lip Renewing Serum at the National Convention in September of 2011, I was immediately interested in the claims Rodan + Fields made about the product. By this time, I had already seen some good results using the AMP MD Roller, and I was having issues with my lips, so a Lip Serum definitely had some appeal -- if it worked.

Rodan + Fields AMP MD Roller

When the AMP MD roller was introduced in 2010, the clinical trials had only been conducted on the face, and the original instruction said not to use it on the lips and eyes. However, after a year of further research, Rodan + Fields not only determined that their roller was safe for lips, but they also developed a serum just for lips. The before and after photos were pretty incredible, showing lips that increased in fullness, size, definition and color with fewer lines and wrinkles. The regimen also promoted the natural moisture of lips.

The Problems of Aging Lips

With age, my lips had started losing their shape, definition and color. However, my greater issue was dryness, sensitivity, burning and chapping. By the end of the day, no matter how much Chapstick, lip balms, Vaseline, vitamin E or olive oil I rubbed on them, my lips were always dry and stinging. Sometimes I had to get up at night to put more lip balm on them, so I was eager to see if the new lip therapy could help me.

My 20-Day Lip Experiment

Since I didn't have the lip serum yet, I started my before and after photo chronicle just using the skin roller. After 5 days, I could already tell a difference in the shape and definition of my lips just using the micro-needle roller. See the 1st photo above.

However, it was after I started using the Lip Renewing Serum that my lips really improved. Not only did the Lip Renewing Serum make them plumper, but by the 2nd week, my lips were no longer dry and irritated anymore. See photo 2 above.

Now, even at night, my lips feel smooth and healthy. No longer can I rub my lips together like scratchy sandpaper.

My Lip Renewing Serum & Roller Review

The Lip Renewing Serum regimen is easy and painless to use. First, I roll my lips with the micro-needle roller. This creates tiny micro-channels that allow the medication in the Lip Renewing Serum to be absorbed past the skin's natural protective barrier - the same barrier that blocks beeswax and most "all-natural" products and over-the counter ingredients. However, the micro-channels do more than provide access to the Lip Renewing Serum. The channels also signal the body to produce more collagen. In fact, according to research conducted by molecular biologist Dr. Timothy Falla, using the micro-needle roller every day changes the DNA of the lips, increasing good DNA associated with collagen and other "youth" factors and decreasing bad DNA associated with age and damage.

After rolling my lips, I apply the Lip Renewing Serum and within minutes, my lips are fuller and rosier, and the effect lasts all day. At night, long after the Lip Serum has worn off, my lips still feel smooth, moist and healthy, and when I look in the mirror I see the lips I had in college.
