Running a Marathon Can Be a Great Way for Beginner Runners to Test Their Endurance Skills
Here are some guidelines on how to run a marathon:
You first off have to position yourself on the starting line in accordance with the predicated pace. If you still have ample time you can warm up and jog in your place of maybe do some stretching.
You need to start slow in order to finish in good form. From time to time check your pace, if you are going to fast, slow down a little bit.
Do not be tempted into picking up the pace between 4 to 10 miles. Try to stay relaxed and try to go with the marathon as if it were a practice run.
In miles 11 to 13, maintain your pace. Also check your time every now and then. If you are a bit behind schedule on the 13th mile, try to pick up your pace.
Do not attack hills in an aggressive manner. You will need your energy to finish the rest of the course, conserve it.
When you are in miles 14 to 21, try to shake out your arms and try a new or change in form for a few strides to give you relief.
Slow down your pace. Picture yourself crossing the finish line as you hit the plateau. It is important to keep yourself encouraged and motivated.
During the last 2 miles, gather up your strength for the last push. It may help you to use the sight of the finish line and the cheer of the crowd to keep you pushing yourself harder to the finish line.
In nearing the finish line, stay loose. Keep your arms moving and your knees up. Run hard on the 10 yards after you have crossed the finish line.
