How to Run a Successful Psychic Site Online

It can be profitable for everyone.

Here is a unique business idea for psychics who wish to have an online business selling all types of readings. It is great being your own boss and it is easier then you think. I am speaking from first hand experience here folks. I ran this site for a little over a year before I sold the site on eBay because I lacked the time needed to keep the site up and running.

I began mystical meanings.com as a solo effort to provide extra income for myself and I offered free sample tarot readings to anyone who asked. I used a simple three-card spread that was useful in many situations. That is what brought visitors to the site, and I charged modest prices for readings. I only did email readings on the site, as I preferred not to do phone readings. How ever, it was too much for me to do alone so I invited other psychics to come aboard and help me. This site became very popular in a short amount of time.

First what you need is a web site that is heavily promoted, but you will not be doing the promoting yourself so do not worry about that part right now. I would get a URL, which is easily remembered by everyone. I choose mystical meanings dot com all one word.

Creating the site.

I would suggest you choose a name that is memorable, then buy the domain, and create a site. When I created my site, I wanted a memorable name which would make people think all things mystical and that is why I chose the name I did.

There will be a few pages on here at first, an introduction with links to your purchase page and a page where you are offering other psychics to join you. You could hire someone to build the site for you or create it yourself.

You also need to create another page for other interested psychics to join you on this site, selling their own readings making sure it is linked to you main page and the page you offer the readings as well.

On the page where you are seeking psychics, make sure you find out what type of readings they offer and how they do readings. This is accomplished in the form of an email or an online form, just make sure you have all the info that is needed.

One requirement I had was that the psychics do a cold reading for me. I figured if they could do an accurate reading for me then they were good enough for my site. Once aboard they helped me to promote the site.

Adding psychics.

Every one who comes on the site will need to have their personal section, which is linked from the main page. I would suggest charging them a modest fee for the set up. They will no doubt make up the money in the first month, but at least you will not have to absorb all the fees.

I did not charge a fee from the first psychics and that was a serious mistake on my part. I paid the hosting fees and all the other fees associated with it. It got expensive to say the least.

Promoting the site.

You will not see huge amounts of traffic right away but if you build it, they will come. I built the site and promoted it through the major search engines within a couple months I seen an upsurge of visitors coming in from all over according to my hit statistics.

The psychics on the site had to make a verbal promise to promote the site in any way they could. So after a while the site was pretty well known. Everyone was posting links to the site wherever they could and we all had the URL on our signature file for email.

Now there are several web site submission sites around the web they can easily be utilized from promotion. It would be well worth the money if there were more then one person paying for the service.

Site Additions.

As other psychics came aboard, I added to the site. I added a chat portal and they all had individual pages that were really biographies of the psychics.

There was a chat portal where visitors could come to the site and get their sample readings as well, or simply to talk to a psychic. That chat portal allowed for four private rooms where individuals could go one on one with a psychic if they desired to.

There was a schedule where each psychic was available for 2 or 3 hours one night a week for these readings. It worked out fine, unless the one who was scheduled forgot. This was also one of the requirements to being on the site, everyone helped out with giving free readings. It was beneficial to everyone.

On their individual biography page, I listed what type of psychic they were, their areas of specialty and then I listed their readings with a link to purchase them. Most of the other psychics gave various types of readings to include phone, online, postal and email readings. Many of the psychics also used the free instant messengers like yahoo and AOL to give the readings.

When a client would click a link to purchase a reading the links themselves went to the individual readers pay pal account. This way they were responsible for their own taxes and everyone was an independent contractor.

Summary

This site was heavily visited back in its time, but it just got to be too much when I was trying to be a single parent, and attend school full time. I am not sure what ever became of the site, as I sold it almost 6 years ago.

Would I do this again? You bet I sure would. It allowed me to help those that wanted the help at prices that did not empty their wallet. I would however this time make sure that I charged a small fee to add their pages and charge a small monthly fee to help with expenses associated with being on line. I create my web pages by hand not an html editor so that was a lot of work to do just to help others. I would also add a store where I could sell things other then readings.

The idea of a psychic reading site was a great one, and I hope this article encourages others to step out of their comfort zone and join together to create another site as I did.
