The first way to save is pretty obvious get good deals. Right before the holidays there are lots of deals. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are sure to have deals. However often people do not want to get up early to get them. Also if you dont have much cash the big ticket items will not be on your list anyway. The reality is that many deals are available after the big shopping holidays. While you may not get a blockbuster DVD for $2 like you could on Black Friday you could get them for maybe $3 later in December. Sometimes it is not worth the wait to save a little money. Often even the bigger ticket items are on sale just before the holiday. With the economy doing so bad companies are giving more and better deals later in December. Last year if you missed a good deal on Black Friday you could have waited a week or two to get the same deal. This year will probably be the same.
The other trick is to buy from China or preferably Hong Kong. You can do this two ways. The first is by buying from ebay. Many China and Hong Kong sellers sale on ebay and the items and even shipping is very cheap. The shipping from Hong Kong is cheaper and faster so if you can get from Hong Kong that is better. Also some sites such as dealextreme have entire online stores that you can order online from and shipping is included in the price. They have some great deals on items. You can get some items for less then a dollar. It would cost you more then a dollar to send a letter to Hong Kong but you can buy and ship an led key chain for less then that because they do so much business. Most of these companies are legitimate and you can use paypal to pay for items to get better protection. They say items should take 1-2 weeks but if you are on the west coast they may be faster. I have gotten goods from China and Hong Kong in only a few days since I live near San Francisco a major airport for goods from China. If you buy enough stuff they give you free faster shipping which only takes 3-5 days or you can pay a little more for it.
Some of the goods may be cheap but some are the same as you can get here. For instance this year I got instant snow for only $2.50 and the same exact can cost $10 including shipping on Amazon. I also got a Lego like pirate ship for less then $10 that would cost me $50 for the Lego equivalent. I have bought these kinds of Legos before and they do not go together as well as Lego but they good enough and can be used with Lego. Most items come from China anyway so as long as you are buying generic cheap goods then buying from China is a good deal.
Whatever way you choose to save money for the holidays if you use my suggestion's you can stretch your dollar and get more stuff for your buck.
