How to Save on Children's Winter Clothing

AmyBrowne
Winter will soon be upon us, and if you have children, chances are you are in need of winter fashions to keep the kids warm. Living on a budget can make shopping for clothes very expensive indeed. Parents do have many options that can help to stretch that tight budget and still keep the children warm this winter.

Parents can find coupons online for national chain stores and these coupons will help save on warm winter clothing for kids of all sizes and shapes. You can find links to those coupons in the resource section below. These coupons can offer the parent money savings on much more than simply winter clothing for their children.

Children's Consignment Shops as well as the local Salvation Army are great places to find winter clothes in many sizes. Some of these apparel items appear new, but there are also plenty of outfits for general play. Usually the prices will fit any budget and the selection is unbeatable. Parents can usually find these shops in their local area or a near by town. Even if you need to spend a little bit in gas to get there, the savings will out weight the cost.

A great idea to save on hats, mittens, and scarves to keep the kids warm is to find someone who knits and purchase some hand made articles. Many elderly women love to knit these items, as a hobby. Perhaps if you purchase a few skeins of yarn you can get hand knitted items at low cost or even free. Knitted slippers will keep children's feet warm when a child puts their socked feet into winter boots as well as keeping toes warm in the house.

If you belong to a community where there is a large population of children, parents should organize a winter clothing exchange. Many churches have a fellowship hall where they will allow such events to take place. Hang fliers around town encouraging parents to come one day with bags separated by clothing type and size. A few parents could place the clothes on the tables in appropriate piles and the next day parents can bring in bags for the exchange. This really can help every one get the clothing they need for their children this winter, and it allows parents to help one another to ensure that no child is cold this winter.
