How to Save on Gas Prices & Tips to Find Cheapest Gas
Tips to Save You Money Even If You're Driving a Gas Guzzler
There is a website that can save you money by locating the cheapest gas stations in your local area. The website is powered by MSN. All you have to do is go directly to the MSN Auto - Local Gas Price Page. Once you are on the site, you will need to enter your zip code, or the area you are researching to find the cheapest gas prices offered at local stations.
There are many other websites that promise to do the same thing, but I have not found any one of them to be a comprehensive as the data available on MSN. I live in a small town, and when I have logged onto other site, they either had no listings or outdated listings. At MSN's Local Gas Price page, you will have every gas station in your area at your finger tips. Most of the gas prices are updated every 24-hours, with some even more often if a consumer logs on and reports a change in price.
This can save you a lot of money each time you fill up, because you will know the exact gas station that has their gas at the lowest price. The difference between gas stations in my area varies by almost twenty cents per gallon!
There are other tips that can save you money by getting more out of your gas mileage. One word of advice is to keep your tires properly inflated. You should check your tire pressure often, both over and under inflated tires reduce the efficiency of your miles per gallon. Another tip is to slow down as soon as you start approaching a red light, in hopes to still be coating a bit by the time it turns green. This eliminates the need for acceleration, which boosts your miles per gallon. A no brainier tip would also be to lay off the fast acceleration, which pumps out more fuel usage.
If is it possible, you should also avoid driving in traffic hours. the stop and go can really take a toll on your gas usage and waste fuel. I know if your driving home from work, it's not an issue you can avoid, but to save gas during your errands, plan them off "peak" driving hours. Plus you will be able to forgo the frustrations of bumper to bumper traffic!
For you lead foot drivers; driving above sixty five miles per hour increases your gas consumption by ten percent or more. It really is best for your safety to drive with in the speed limit anyway, but now it's also good for your wallet because driving at sixty five miles per hour or below ensures getting the most out of your gas tank.
And one more tips is to keep an empty vehicle. If your always driving around with heavy items, such as tools, or other heavy equipment piled yup in the back seat or trunk, you may be kissing precious gas away by wasting it! The more weight your vehicle has to pull, the lower the miles per gallon! So keep a cleaner vehicle and save your gas at the same time!
I hope these tips help you save some cash, whether gas is low or high. No matter the price, saving a few bucks is always nice. We all complain when gas prices get high, and no matter how much gas we save, it's hard to combat the squeeze we feel in our wallets every time we stop at the gas station. Using a few of these techniques and tips may help ease the squeeze, so enjoy your next drive, by going easy on the gas pedal, checking MSN for local gas prices before filling up, keeping those tires inflated and keeping a clean vehicle!
