1. Change all of your light bulbs to low energy/energy efficient light bulbs, these will not only save energy but money too!
2. Make your own draft excluders for every door in your house. Keep in the warmth all year round by making some cheap draft excluders that will help save you money in the long run as you wont be losing and heat or warmth.
3. Insulate your roof. Make sure you insulate your roof to keep in heat.
4. Make sure all of your taps are turned off after you have used them, even a leaky tap costs you money.
5. Have door curtains, especially for your front door/s, patio doors, french doors and so on. Stop that heat getting out and fit some curtain doors to save you both energy and money at the same time!
6. Instead of using the tumble dryer why not hang your clothes out to dry on the line.
7. Install a water meter, electricity meter and so on. Only pay for what you use.
8. Reuse your bath water. Water your plants inside and outside with your left over bath water and save a few cents/pennies in the process.
9. DIY - Do it yourself - If there are small jobs to be done then do them yourself to save money, If they are larger jobs in perhaps areas that you are unsure of/in then please seek/call in the professionals.
10. Make your own cleaning products using household items, vinegar has many uses! Save money and make your own cleaning products and solutions.
11. Only heat what you need to heat, for example don't leave the heat on when you are not in the house and if/where possible why not wrap up warm and put on an extra layer to save on your energy fuel bills and costs.
12. Check you are getting what you pay for. To save even more money shop around and get the best deals for your utilities, your energy and fuel providers, your telephone company and so on. Save pennies and cents now, and dollars and pounds in the long run.
13. Turn down your washing machine and put it on a faster/quicker cycle. Unless your clothes are really filthy then save money/electricity by using a quicker cycle on your washing machine.
14. Water down cleaning solutions. To save money and make your money stretch further how about adding a bit of water to each of your cleaning products. Not too much that they are ineffective but just a little to make sure you get as much usage out of them as possible.
