L J Pearce
You can save money in a lot of areas in your everyday life, from car to travel, to food and entertainment.
Below are just a few ideas, ways and suggestions as to how you can save even more money.

SAVING MONEY ON TRAVEL

1. Plan ahead, when going away, on holiday, to work or any type of travel its always best to plan ahead, plan how much you will spend, and then save money aside to cover all of your travelling costs and expenses.

2. If you travel by car or motorbike then shop around and compare several insurance providers. Get the best quotes both offline and online using things such as comparison websites.

3. Use public transport. You can cut down your travelling costs by opting to take public transport.

4. Why not use a pushbike more. If you are really up for saving some money then why not try to get active, fit and healthy by using your pushbike/s more to travel to places within easy reach/manageable distance.

SAVING MONEY IN AND AROUND THE HOUSE

1. Create meal plans. Save money on your grocery bills, by going shopping once week, creating meal plans and by creating and sticking to a budget.

2. Cut down on your household bills, try to get the most out of your utility suppliers by switching if/where possible to save money.

3. Change all of your bulbs/lamps to energy efficient ones if they are not these already.

4. Get your home properly insulated, paying a little now could reduce your household bills and usage in the long run.

TOP TIP: To save money in all areas of your life why not create, work to and stick to a family budget. Work out what you have coming in and exactly what you have going out, this way you are able to see in black and white what money is going where and when. Having a budget also allows you to save for things such as birthdays, holidays, special occasions and entertainment.

BUDGETING

Creating a budget is essential if you want to keep on top of your money and make the most out of it.
Below are a few snippets of advice and some tips as to what to include in your budget:

1. Create a new budget on a weekly or monthly basis - dependant on when you get paid.

2. Remember to factor in money for those unforeseen circumstances such as illness, loss of income, transportation problems and so on

3. In your budget include things such as entertainment, dining out, travel, holidays, days out and so on. If you have children these are essential so when creating a budget remember you need to treat yourself every once in a while!

SPEND LESS

Now that you have saved more, cut down and budgeted, here are a few more nuggets of advice as to how you can spend even less of your hard earned cash:

1. Keep a spending diary - on a daily basis, from the minute you wake up to the minute you go to sleep write down everything you have brought or spent money on. Sometimes seeing things in black and white will help you spend even less money in the long run.

2. Always shop around, when spending any amount of money no matter how small always be prepared to shop around to ensure you get the best deals, offers and value for money.

3. Buy only what you need, not what you want. If you adopt this way of thinking and purchasing you will find that you not only spend less but that you will probably also be a lot happier anyway!

We save by splitting the costs of many items with friends and neighbors who need the same things. Many things are necessary, but used only once a week or less. Why should everybody own the same things that they rarely use? Anyway, we use a kind of checkout system that works very well. I just started a blog about it, if anybody wants to know more. http://splitting-expenses.blogspot.com/
