How to Save Money with Coupons

Saving with Coupons and Deals

If you're trying to save money at the grocery store, using coupons is a great place to start. At the same time, there are a lot of misconceptions about coupon use. For example, many people think that you can only find coupons in the Sunday paper, or that coupons are only good for discounts on foods that they don't normally buy.

These preconceptions can discourage consumers from using coupons, which is really unfortunate. In reality, coupons are a great money-saving resource, if you know how to use them properly.

First, you don't have to find your coupons in the Sunday paper, and laboriously cut them out. There are lots of online coupon websites where you can search for a particular product and then simply print off the relevant coupons, saving you time and money. This strategy is particularly good if you're looking for coupons on healthier foods, like yogurt or organic cereal. You won't be limited to the brands that advertise in newspaper inserts, and you'll have a much wider range of choice in the coupons that you can access.

To maximize the amount of savings that you can get with your coupons, use them when the target products are already on sale. Usually, this will happen about a week before the coupon is due to expire. (This is because of the grocery store's need to move the merchandise, and it also has to do with shipment patterns.)

You might want to start a filing system, organizing your coupons by date, so that you can easily access the coupons that will be most beneficial for that particular week. When you add a coupon to an already reduced sale price, you're maximizing your savings, and stretching your dollar much further.

Finally, it's also important to order free samples of products that you either use already or would like to try. You can do this by visiting free sample blogs, which will alert you to companies that are giving away samples online. When these samples arrive, they often come with coupons, so that you can buy the products that you've tried out. While these coupons are usually very helpful, they're also usually for expensive brands. Before you use them, make sure that you can't get a generic brand for a better price.

With these easy tips, you'll be using the internet to save lots of money with coupons. In no time, you'll be on the road to lower grocery bills!
