How to Save Money on a New Ford Vehicle by Using the Ford X-Plan Discount

Maggie OLeary
The Ford A-Plan and X-Plan are two of the many great benefits of working at Ford. The A-Plan is for employees of Ford, but the X-Plan is for friends and family members. The X-Plan program extends a modified employee discount to friends and family members of Ford employees. Employees can buy vehicles at cost from Ford on the A-Plan; the X-Plan provides a discount of halfway between the build cost and the retail price of any Ford vehicle. Each employee can request up to two X-Plan PINs for friends or family members each year. Each PIN is good for one year from the date of issue.

I personally have used the Ford X-Plan to buy each of my last four cars; my husband and brother-in-law both work for Ford and can get me a PIN each time I need one. This is one of the reasons I keep buying Ford exclusively. I am definitely loyal to the brand, as I believe in the quality of the vehicles they produce, but I can get a fully-loaded Ford on the X-Plan for less than I can get any other brand of car.

If you would like to use the Ford X-Plan to purchase your next vehicle, the process is pretty simple and straight-forward. You must have a friend or family member who works for Ford. Request a Ford X-Plan PIN from him or her, and they will start the process for you. They will need your name, address and Social Security number in order to request the PIN for you. After they receive your information, they can sign in to the employee intranet at Ford and request the PIN number for you.

Once you receive your X-Plan PIN, you can use it to purchase a new Ford vehicle at the dealership of your choice (used vehicles are not eligible for purchase with the X-Plan, only new models). The PIN will give you a great discount; the more options you purchase, the better the discount. My husband bought a fully-loaded F-150 for less than the price of a base-model F-150.

For more information, you can visit the Ford X-Plan Program FAQs to find out all about the program and requirements. And if you are curious about the A-Plan, you can visit the Ford Motor Company website or talk to an employee for more information. Have fun shopping, and enjoy your new Ford!
