How to Save Money at Home

One of the biggest financial drains on any budget is typically housing expenses. However, there is no reason to lose hope and resign to having an empty wallet. With some planning, research and investigation you can save thousands of dollars on your overall housing expenses including the expenses related to mortgages, equity loans, purchasing a home, and renting a home.

Money Saver #1. Look carefully at the interest rate of the loans. Every fraction of a percent you can shave off your mortgage will equal up to some serious savings. You should not just take an interest rate at face value however, make sure to ask about any fees or points associated with that rate or you may spent more money in the quest of the promised lower rate.

Money Saver #2. Avoid ARM or Adjustable Rate Mortgages as much as possible. Realize that while you can save money on your monthly payment if the interest rates drop, you could also end up paying hundreds of dollars more each month if the rates rise. While an ARM may offer great introductory rates, they are very risky for people looking for a stable budget since they change. Look for a fixed rate mortgage to avoid this problem.

Money Saver #3. Look for a loan with the fewest points and lowest interest rate. While points are great because they help you shave some off the interest rate, they are even better when you are not having to pay huge amounts for them. To help save money, look for loans with few points and low rates. Shop around and do not be afraid to call numerous lenders to find the best deal.

Money Saver #4. If you can shave at least 1% off your interest rate by doing a refinance then consider doing one. However, do not just jump in, each new loan will have additional fees, you must compare those new fees to the amount saved with the lower interest rate to see if it is truly going to save you money. Otherwise, your refinance could cost you just as much, if not more money in the long run.

Money Saver #5. Always compare the asking price of a home you are considering purchasing to the appraised value and make an offer accordingly. Also, try to negotiate as many expenses to the seller as possible during closing to save even more money.

Money Saver #6. Remember if you rent or lease a place, that you are legally obligated to pay the rent payment for each month of the lease. Very seldom can you break a lease, and if you do attempt to break, a lease you may need to go to court to fully resolve matters, which can add additional expenses.

I was in a lot of debt and desperate. Then I found out about paid online surveys. Some were scams, but I found a legit program. Now I make an extra $3000-$3500 per month right from home while watching TV with my kids. It really works! If you're interested, try it at http://cashsurveys.notlong.com
