Kroger is a large chain grocery store that millions of people shop at every week. They offer a large variety of food items at competitive prices. However, there are always ways to cut back at any store, no matter how good the prices are. Kroger is no exception. By using some simple shopping techniques, you can save over half the sticker price at Kroger grocery stores. Take the time to read over these money-saving tip's and start cutting down on your grocery bill.

Weekly Ads

One of the easiest ways to save money at Kroger grocery stores is to simply look at the weekly ads that they put out. These ads show you the specials that are available for that week. If you can plan your trip around the inexpensive items in these ads, then you will be able to save significantly more than if you had simply shopped as you normally do. Just make sure you also keep an eye out for unadvertised sales as you walk through the store to capitalize on sales that few others will see. Don't forget, you can also pair these sales with coupons save even more.

Kroger Plus Card

Most of the time, the prices seen in the Kroger adds and on price tags are only available to Kroger Plus Card holders. This means that if you do not have one of Kroger's loyalty cards you will pay much more for the items you buy. By simply signing up for a free card, you will instantly be saving money on your items every time the cashier scans your card. You will also be able to take advantage of $.10 off per gallon of gas when you have purchased enough items at Kroger. You can look at the bottom of your receipt to find out when you have bought enough to receive this discount.

You also have the option to load eCoupons to your Kroger card from sites like Shortcuts.com and Cellfire.com. The best part about these eCoupons is that they can be used in conjunction with manufacturer and store coupons for the same product. For example, if you have a $.50 off coupon for yogurt, as well as an eCoupon and to store coupon for that same product, you could actually get paid to purchase that item. So always check out these sites before you head to your local Kroger.

Kroger Store Coupons

Kroger.com and Kroger coupon booklets have a variety of Kroger store coupons. Many times these same coupons cannot be found anywhere else. However, you can typically find manufacturer coupons for the same product, just a different amount off. These coupons can be used in conjunction with manufacturer coupons which means double the savings. So make sure you look around to find these coupons for items that you need before you start shopping.

Double and Triple Coupons

The majority of Kroger grocery stores will double and triple coupons up to a set amount. This can mean that a $.35 off coupon can actually be worth $1.05 if it is tripled. This can mean free products when you play your cards right. So go to your local Kroger store and find out what their coupon policy is. This will help you when you are shopping, because you'll know which coupons you have are actually worth a lot more.

Store Brands

When you do not have a coupon or sale on an item that you need, you can always turn to Kroger store brands. Most of the private labels available at Kroger taste just as good as their name brand counterpart. With the savings of around 30%, it is an easy way to still get a good deal on an item you would have to buy anyway.

By using these strategies you can walk into any Kroger and save a good deal of money. Over the course of just a year you could easily save thousands of dollars. That is money that could go towards other things than food. So start slowly implementing these ideas into your routine Kroger visits, until it becomes second nature. Your friends and family will be amazed at how you save so much money week after week.
