How to Save Money on the Non Coupon Items

Mrs. Renee

With all the talk of coupon clipping, many are looking to get their hands on any number of coupons that they can find. So how can you still get the deals for the items that do not have coupons available? Well for items like paper towels, and even seasoning, and meat that do not have coupons; you can still get them easily discounted. Below are a few tips and suggestions that may help you to save money on the non coupon items.

Check the fliers for sales

If you only buy items when they are on sale then you will always save money. I have learned that the best way to save money when you don't have coupons is to never pay full price for anything again. Take a look at your flier each week and see what they have on sale. Then you can see what recipes you can make with the sales items.

Shop every two weeks

One of the best ways to save money is to go food shopping once a month. If however you do not have the bulk amount of money to pay for once a month shopping, than every two weeks is the next best thing. If you shop sales every two weeks you will be able to load up on enough items to provide plenty of meals for that time period. Just be sure that you make out your shopping list ahead of time so that you don't end up buying items you don't need.

Check your receipt at the register

One thing that I notice many people forget to do is to check their receipt when they leave the register. Some even leave their coupons behind simply because they are rushing. In some cases you may earn an extra 5% off coupon or more after spending a certain amount. You may sometimes find coupons printed at the register for items that you never get coupons for.

Look for manager specials

Manager specials are a great way to get discounts on items like meat and spices. Usually when the meat is approaching the expiration date, they will put it on manager special. You can choose to cook the meat right away and store it in the freezer or you can just put it in the freezer until you are ready to cook it. Manager specials will usually have a sticker on it telling you how much it will be discounted.
