How to Save Money at Restaurants This Valentine's Day

Surprise Your Valentine at Work

Arvy Smith
When you are at work on a holiday it always feels like the day is dragging on that much longer. On a special day like Valentine's, when a woman should be pampered and shown love, break up her daily grind and surprise her by taking her out for a special Valentine's Day lunch. There are not a lot of things that you will need, but there are essentials that you will need to take along with you, just in case.

What you will need to do is plan ahead to make this day special. Check to see what the weather forecast is for that day, if it will be dry and sunny then you can pretty much secure any location. A spot on the grass at the park or beach, if you live near one would work best. If the forecast calls for wind and/or rain then you will probably want to stick to an indoor area or at least some where that is covered. Next make sure to bring a blanket to sit on and an umbrella just in case. Also prepare for the worst and bring an extra change of clothes for her should anything spill or you find yourself caught in the rain.

For your meal you can do one of two things. If she likes a certain restaurant, as many women do, you can call a few days in advance and order some food to go for that day. Trust me I tried calling in a to-go order at my fiancé's favorite restaurant the morning of Valentines and they told me they were booked for inside the restaurant, as well as take out. Call ahead and save yourself the headache. The other thing that you can do is if she likes a certain dish that you prepare or that someone else makes then make it or ask that person to make it. Pack up all these things in a cooler with the other suggested items for your lunch get away. I would suggest a restaurant at lunch, but many times we only get an hour for lunch and the less time waiting in line the better. This would leave more time for the two of you on Valentines. Pick her up at work and take her to your secret location for lunch. Chances are she will think you are heading to a restaurant and will be pleasantly surprised.

As you can see, you can still save a lot of money on a Valentine's lunch if you just prepare in advance. You can also spark the romance in your relationship by doing such spontaneous and loving things for your significant other. Valentine's Day is a special day and as such, you should make it extra special for that person in your life. It seems that we spend more time waiting in line, waiting for our food and waiting for our waiter to come back to the table that we lose a lot of focus on what is important - the love between you and your special lady. Make sure to make this Valentine's Day a memorable one.
