Here are some great ways to save money on your Thanksgiving dinner, especially if you will be serving a larger group of family and friends. Start planning a month or so early, and keep an eye out for sales and special deals.

Besides saving money on Thanksgiving dinner, you can also stock up on bargains that are common in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Get Organized

Plan your menu at least a month in advance. By this time you should have a general idea of who and how many guest you will be serving.

Also, make sure you know of any special dietary needs or preferences any of your guests might have, such a diabetics or vegetarians, so that you can make sure there are enough appropriate dishes to keep everyone happy.

Plan out your dinner, and create a time line. The time line can include your shopping schedule, any food preparation you might be able to take care of before hand and freeze, your cooking schedule.

Free Turkey

Some Grocery stores will have free turkey specials near Thanksgiving. Most of the time, you will have to spend a certain amount in money to get the free turkey, usually around a hundred dollars.

Many grocery stores will also have good bargains for the usual Thanksgiving foods, like stuffing and gravy at this time, so looking for and saving coupons for these items beforehand will increase your savings even further.

Cook From Scratch

Making your own mashed potatoes, gravy, pies and other Thanksgiving dinner foods is easy and the ingredients are inexpensive for most things.

Buying your food s pre-made at the store will cost you ten times the amount it would to make at home yourself. Making it a family affair will save you work, and make a great learning experience for your kids, and a great bonding experience for your family as well.
