The theme of the birthday party will be chosen not only by what your child enjoys but it also depends greatly on your budget. Even on a limited budget, you can have a themed party for your child.
To keep in a budget, pick a theme of the birthday party and then go pick up a few Mylar balloons on that theme. You may also want to pick up napkins and invitations with the favorite character, just keep in mind you only want two or three things with the theme on them. Look at the items you have chosen and notice the colors, which are prominent, now pick up the plates, cups, hays and other decorations up in that color at your local dollar store or other discount store.
For instance, pick up a few balloons, invitations, and the plates with Barney on them at the expensively priced store for the birthday party. Head over to the dollar store and grab napkins, cups, streamers, silverware and of course a tablecloth in either green or purple, which are Barney's main colors.
Any paper goods can be printed off on your computer for the birthday party just be careful of using any character that is on television on anything you print off, as this is copy write infringement. Printing off your invitations can save you a lot of money and this is a great place to save money.
Do not forget to add a movie which is based on your character so when its time to sit and eat the children can be entertained. Sometimes with little, ones having them sit to watch a movie means they will take the time to eat, instead of running around.
When planning the food, keep the theme of in mind. If you are hosting a Barney themed birthday party, serve purple juice or cool aide. Another cool idea is to add purple food coloring and a dash of vanilla to white milk and call it Dinosaur juice.
Serve lots of finger foods, some salty, and some sweet. Green and purple Jell-O cut into squares would be cool at this type of party and will help to carry the color scheme.
Bakery cakes are expensive, so why not make your own. There are millions of videos on youtube and you are sure to find a how to video of decorating tons of themed cakes. With these simple cost effective tips, you can have a themed birthday for your child.
