How to Save Money on Toothpaste

How to Lower the Cost of This Necessity

Jennifer Foote
Toothpaste is a necessity. We all need to brush our teeth, multiple times a day. For that reason, you must buy toothpaste, and you will use a lot of it. Although toothpaste is relatively affordable, the cost can significantly add up over time. How can you save money on toothpaste?

Choose your store wisely. Toothpaste is sold at many stores, including grocery stores, department stores, and drug stores. Your best bet is to shop at a discount store or department store, such as Walmart or Dollar General. These stores are known for their everyday low prices, so you are likely to get a better deal.

Look for toothpaste sales. Discount retailers have everyday low prices; therefore, they are less likely to offer sales. You can and should still look. Although these stores have the lowest prices, you can get great deals on toothpaste at drug stores such as Rite Aid, Walgreen's or CVS. Some shoppers are able to get their toothpaste for free at these stores by combining store coupons, manufacturer coupons, sales or rebates.

Stock-up on toothpaste when you find it on sale. Since we brush our teeth multiple times a day, you will use a lot of toothpaste. It will not hurt to create a small stockpile. Only stock up on toothpaste when you find a good deal, otherwise you may end up costing yourself more in the long run.

Find toothpaste coupons. The best way to save money on toothpaste is to look for coupons. Luckily, these are the easiest type of coupons to find. It is common to find coupons for Colgate toothpaste in weekend newspapers. They usually appear about once every month or two. Most toothpaste coupons are not specific, meaning you may be able to use a Colgate coupon on any style Colgate toothpaste. You can also find toothpaste coupons on online coupon Web sites, as well as manufacturer Web sites. Perform a standard Internet search with your favorite toothpaste brand, like Crest. Once on the Web site, search for coupons or special offers.

Get duplicate toothpaste coupons. When getting coupons online, you will find that many online coupon websites offer the same coupons. Print them. You will get duplicate coupons. They cannot be used at the same store during the same shopping trip, but most coupons don't expire for at least a month. You should be able to fit in multiple shopping trips. As previously stated, you should stock up on toothpaste when you find a good sale. Combine that sale price with a coupon and you will save a lot of money!

In short, there are many ways to save money on the necessity known as toothpaste. As a recap, shop at stores with everyday low prices, look for good sales, stock-up when you can, and find toothpaste coupons. Most importantly, use those coupons.

Nice Article! I once got two full-sized tubes of Colgate for $1.38 shopping the stores clearance section.

Thanks! But, in regards to coupons online, I've found that many of them use the same "software" to print them and they seem to be able to tell that you've printed them before even if you're on a different website.

My mother would love this. She hasn't paid for toothpaste since 1976, I think. She thinks everyone has time for it, which can get annoying, but I do need to try harder to take advantage of this stuff. Great tips!
