How to Save Money for Vacation

If you've never taken a vacation then it's time to start. A vacation means rest, relaxation and fun from the busy lives we lead. Many families don't take vacation due to financial situations that prevent this. There are ways you can take a vacation even if money is tight.

How to save money for vacation?

It's quite simple, save! I know in today's economy that it's hard to do this. However, it can be accomplished. Open a savings account at the beginning of the year. Add twenty to fifty dollars out of each paycheck. If you are paid weekly, that's even better. It all adds up to a nice vacation. For example, let's say you add fifty dollars to your account out of each paycheck. There are fifty two weeks in a year and that adds up to $2600 for your vacation and if you add in fifty dollars every two weeks that adds up to $1300 for a vacation that's long over due.

Not only can you add money from your paycheck but also you can sell items you don't use. It can be done through having a yard sale or even listing items in your local message board or newspaper. If nothing else, list your items on Craigslist. Many families hold yard sales to make extra money for vacation. The old saying goes if I have not used it in a year I don't need it anymore. This money added to your savings will add up quickly and give you a perfect vacation with extra spending money.

Another great way to make money for vacation is to do odd jobs for other people. Mowing a neighbor's yard or shoveling snow in the winter. Hauling away brush and debris from a yard your neighbor cleaned up. If you have mechanical skills, use that knowledge to work on cars, boats, lawn mowers to earn some extra money. If you know how to fill out taxes this is an excellent way to earn money also. Many people would rather pay someone else to do their taxes at a cheaper rate then tax preparer charges.

If none of this appeals to you then work some overtime and use that as a way to collect vacation money. Overtime can be long and hard but in the end, it's for a good cause, vacation! Keeping that in the back of your mind will enable you to work harder for what you and your family deserve.
