Cheap Valentine's Day Treats

While you have already spent money on flowers, cards and gifts and have set aside some money for dinner later on, the last thing you should need to worry about is spending another $30 on some candy for your Valentine. Now you won't have to with my suggestions on saving money on Valentine's Day candies and treats.

What is your favorite chocolate candy? I love those bite size Snickers, you know the kind I am talking about, the kind that you get at Halloween that look like little midget candy bars. If you are on a shoe string budget and can't afford another 10, 20 or even 30 dollars on candy and chocolates then have no fear, you are not alone. What you can do is pick up one of those little gift boxes, the kind that the chocolates on Valentine's Day come in, preferably a red one. You can then get some nice paper, like the kind that you see in gift bags when you get a present. I believe they call them tissue paper because it resembles actual tissue paper. Then get an assortment of chocolates, the cheaper non Valentine's Day variety. Or even get the bite size versions of her favorite chocolates. You can then wrap them up in the paper and arrange them in the box, place a bow on it and you will have the nicest, most thoughtful and tastiest box of chocolates she has ever received.

You can also whip up a batch of her favorite baked treats like cookies. You can even make Valentine's Day-shaped cookies and sprinkle them with red frosting or red sprinkles. You can easily get a recipe online for sugar cookies and bake them up. Do a search on Google for an easy "Sugar Cookie recipe" or "Valentine's Day treats recipes." You will have a ton of recipes to choose from. I personally like sugar cookies because they are easy and cheap to make and not to mention tasty as well. Just as you wrapped up the candies, you can do the same for the cookies also. Put a nice bow on it and she will have the best Valentine's treat any girl could ever ask for.

When we are on a tight budget, as many of us are, Valentine's Day becomes one of those holidays that just seems to pull at our pocket books. While we want to make this day a special one for our loved ones, at the same time we do not want to have to spend a ton of money to do so. There are a lot of things that you can do to save money on this day. Making things not only comes more from the heart, it shows that you have taken the time to do something for her, instead of just grabbing the last box of candy or chocolates available. By using tips such as suggested above you can still make Valentine's Day a special one for your sweet heart.
