How to Save on Your Prescription Drug Costs

Laura Munion
With so many pharmacies available, prescription drug prices are getting competitive. So are pharmacy perks. Here are some programs that can shave a hefty amount off your prescription coverage, even if you have insurance:

· Select CVS pharmacies offer a Minute Clinic, which is a medical service that requires no appointment. Your child can be seen with little to no waiting time, which beats urgent care facilities by a long shot. You can get prescriptions or advice on over the counter treatments when a prescription drug isn't necessary. Minute Clinic is covered by most insurance providers.

· Meijer grocery and retail stores offer free prescription antibiotics. Just bring in your prescription for any of the following antibiotics, and you'll receive them free of charge:

Amoxicillin
Cephalexin
SMZ-TMP
Ciprofloxacin
Ampicillin
Penicillin VK
Erythromycin

· Both WalMart (www.walmart.com) and Giant Eagle (www.gianteagle.com) offer a huge list of over 400 generic prescription drugs for just $4 each. Just check the pharmacy section of the websites to see if your prescription is on the list.
