If you have a complex transaction to complete, don't try to do your transaction through the drive-thru! If you wish to receive a cashier's check, money order, wire transfer, or have coin counted, go into the lobby of your bank. The number one thing that you can do to save time in the drive-thru is to have all of your transaction slips completed. Fill in all of the information on your transaction slips. Is there a spot for you to place your address? Fill it in! This will ensure that if the teller has any questions regarding verification of your account number, they can simply look up your information. Believe me, the more information that we are given, the better. Just a friendly reminder, whenever you are getting any cash back on your transaction you need to sign! If your transaction does not require that you get any cash back, and you don't need a receipt, simply advise the teller that you don't need a receipt and you can leave right away.
Tips for ATM
If all you need to do is get some cash, the ATM can be a great time saver. You can save additional time in the drive-thru by making sure that you have your credit or debit out and available for quick access. Also, make sure that you have your PIN number either with you are memorized.
Tips for Going In the Lobby
When you are going into the bank, there is a number of things that you can do to speed up your visit. As with going through the drive-thru, making sure that you have all of your transaction slips filled out ahead of time. If you frequently need to do wire transfers, you can ask for additional wire transfer sheets from a teller. If you need to get money out of your checking account, the worst thing that you can do is say "I need $xxx out of my checking account! The teller will now need to fill out a checking withdrawal form, look up your account number, verify your identity, and have you sign for the cash. Simply writing a check out for cash and signing the back or writing a check out to the name of your bank is a simple and efficient way to speed up this process. You can always ask for extra deposit, withdrawal, loan payment, anything slips!
