How to Save Time, Money, and Loose Weight All from Grocery Shopping!

Blair Hill
When walking into the grocery store, people often wonder where to start first, try to scramble their brains for what they need, and how to get through the store the quickest. There are some very easy tips that can help you save time, money, and while still getting the most beneficial and healthy foods for your money.

First off, just as your mother told you, and her mother told her, always sit down before your shopping trip and create a list. Go through your pantry, your cabinets, your refrigerator, etc and search for what you need. Make note if you need to add any condiments or spices to your stock, and so forth. Sitting down with a pen and a paper will not only help you to remember to buy what you need, it will also help you focus once at the store to only buy what you need, thus saving you money and helping you to remember, that though those chocolate donuts look delicious, they aren't needed.

Second, as also commonly known, it is essential that you do not shop when you are hungry. Shopping hungry will make you tempted to buy the foods you crave at that moment, in addition to foods you shouldn't or wouldn't normally purchase. You most likely will spend more if you are shopping hungry, and ideally it is not a healthy contribute to grocery shopping.

Thirdly, when at the grocery store, with your list in hand always start on the outsides of the grocery store, and if absolutely necessary work yourself inward. The vegetables, fruits, milk & dairy sections, meat sections, etc. are all located on the perimeter of the grocery store, which is the most essential place and most likely where most of the items on your list are located. It is commonly known that the inside of the grocery store is where the most highly marked up items are, as well as the most tempting foods such as sugary cereals, junk foods such as chips and soda pop, frozen foods which are the most expensive and unhealthy for you and your family, etc. If you shop in the perimeter of the store first, you are forced to also shop quickly and most efficiently as you do not want your cold items to go fowl.

Thus, if you have learned anything, I must encourage you, as I myself was personally once a grocery stores favorite customer, as I immediately went to the precooked food sections, bought all the easy foods, shopped through the isles, and if I felt necessary would strole through the outsides (the perimeter of the store) last. Remembering these tips will not only save you time and money, they will also save you inches on your hips!
