How to Save Time with .RSS

Fischer Sharpe
Every day many people log onto the internet and go to the same group of websites that they go to every day. This people then check for new updates, and new information that could possibly quench their thirst for information. Some of these people have even condensed all of this information into one, easy to read website.

These people are most likely making use of so called RSS feeds. These feeds send headlines and other titles to other websites. These feeds are constantly updated with the websites content, and therefore allow computer users to digest a far greater amount of information in a smaller amount of time.

You can create a homepage using Google that consists primarily of all of the websites that you look at on a regular basis. The next step is filling it up with rss feeds that may interest you.

Google even goes as far as providing thousands of user made widgets that can also adorn your start page. These range in simplicity and function from something as simple as a small game to combat ennui all the way to something that tells you what the weather is currently doing outside (one less excuse to actually go outside).

It may take a long time, and seem like a lot of work to set up a start up page with a lot of rss feeds and widgets on it, but over time it is well worth it. If you normally spent 2 hours a day reading a specified list of websites, you could condense this 2 hour time block into perhaps a half hour. This means that for a one time commitment of a few hours, you would be saving about an hour and a half a day. Depending on what you normally get paid, this could equal out to a lot of money, you could even get rich!

Another great thing about rss feeds is that you can combine them to do all sorts of things. For instance, if you are in the market to buy a new boat, you can set up a search on Craigslist or eBay. After that you can create an rss link from that search and see a constantly updated list of boats that meet your criteria. By helping find you the best boat, you would be saving a significant amount of time that would otherwise be spent doing something quite unproductive.

The best part of setting up an internet start page is the fact that you can see all of the headlines of articles presented on one page. This allows you to very easily go to only the ones that interest you. If all of this sounds like too much work for you to set up, then you can let Google suggest a list of rss feeds to suit your needs by entering a keyword in the content creation box.
