Whenever you are attempting to save money, it is always best to know the store's coupon policies. Walgreens coupon policy can be found here:

and Walgreens Jingle Cash Policy can be found here:
http://www.walgreens.com/topic/save-money/register-rewards.jsp
Jingle Cash (previously known as Register Rewards) is a type of coupon which prints out when you purchase an advertised item at Walgreens. Jingle Cash can be used on any item in the store (with some restrictions).
Many times you may purchase an item for $2.99 and receive $2.99 in Jingle Cash back. This makes the item free in a way. The item is free if you have something else in the store you can use the Jingle Cash towards. The item is not free if you do not choose to use the Jingle Cash or you use it to purchase something frivolous you would otherwise not need or want.
I purchase the free offers at Walgreens when I already have something else I need at Walgreens.
I purchase the free item first and then use Jingle Cash (or Register Rewards) towards something else I would have purchased without the Jingle Cash. Examples of items you might already need to purchase include: toliet paper, paper towels, hygiene products, etc.
Walgreens specifies in their Jingle Cash policy, "Customers redeeming Walgreens Jingle Ca$h against the same offer may not receive another Walgreens Jingle Ca$h coupon."
Therefore, if you purchase one item to receive Jingle Cash and you would like to purchase another item to receive Jingle Cash, do not use your original Jingle Cash coupon towards the same item. If you do, you will not receive a second Jingle Cash coupon.
In the past, I have also noticed sometimes a register rewards (now known as Jingle Cash) will not print out if you are using Register Rewards from the same manufacturer. If you are purchasing a second item from the same manufacturer your original Register Rewards are from, you may find the second purchase will not print out Register Rewards. Although this is not written in Walgreens policy, this tends to be how the coupon printers function.
Another tip, my Walgreens store's register resets itself a little before midnight. At this time of night, none of the coupons print out. I recommend not purchasing items you want to receive Register Rewards (also known as Jingle Cash) between 11:45 pm and 12:15 am. I usually do not purchase items I anticipate receiving Register Rewards for during the times 11:30 pm to 12:30 am, just to be safe. If you never do your shopping this late, this will not be a concern.
When you are redeeming Jingle Cash (or Register Rewards), remember to purchase an item with a greater value than the coupon. If you have $3 in Jingle Cash (aka Register Rewards) and you purchase a $1 item, the remaining Jingle Cash value will be forfeited. You can find this information in Walgreen's coupon policy.
As I mentioned before, be sure to study the coupon policy, Jingle Cash and Register Rewards policies before redeeming coupons. You will want to ensure you get the best deal and studying the store's coupon policy is an important part of this process.
