Making the Most Out of Your Galveston Island FeatherFest Festival Experience: April 8 - 11, 2010

The 8th Annual Galveston FeatherFest Birding Festival in Galveston, Texas is April 8 - 11, 2010. Follow these simple steps to plan an unforgettable FeatherFest in 2010. All important links will be provided in a helpful links section at the end of this article as well as links to slideshows of some of the gorgeous bird residents of Galveston Island, Texas.

Step 1: Pre-register or Register
Make sure to register if you are planning on attending events on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. You can register online until April 6, Tuesday evening at 7:00pm CST, or choose to register at the event. If you register at the 8th FeatherFest Birding Festival, make sure that you leave yourself enough time to complete registration while not missing any shows, events, or field trip departures.

Step 2: Print the Birding Brochures & Checklists and Gather Your Birding Supplies
Check out the birding brochure & checklist available online, print out the map and birding pdf version, and make sure to pack all the birding supplies that you need. If you are lacking something, the Birding Bazaar will be open in the morning and afternoons on the second floor of the Old Galveston Square. The Bazaar with have books, optics, art, toys, and more. If you left something behind, you can probably find it here.

Step 3: Make a Schedule of Your FeatherFest Events and Workshops
Make a schedule of the all the field trips, events, workshops, and socials that you plan on attending during the 8th Annual Galveston FeatherFest Birding Festival. Make sure that you don't have any schedule conflicts. Sign up as soon as you know what you are interested in participating in as space is limited in many of the workshops, events, and field trips.

Step 4: Map the FeatherFest Registration and Event Locations
Get familiar with the parking directions and instructions to the 8th Annual FeatherFest Events and registration location at Butterowe Building-a different location from lasting years FeatherFest., The Butterowe building is location across the street from Saengerfest Park, 23rd and The Strand in downtown Galveston. If you want to map this yourself, the address is 2313 Harborside Drive. Remember don't be arrive last for events or you could be left behind. Also bring the necessary correct change for parking in downtown because you won't want a parking ticket.

Step 5: Don't Forget the Birding Social Events
If you are registered participant, don't miss the socials with keynote speakers for the 8th Annual Galveston FeatherFest Birding Festival. For more information on the socials like address locations and directions as well as keynote speakers.

Step 6: Dress Appropriately for Birding in Galveston, Texas
Dress appropriately for the weather and your event or field trips. Bring your binoculars and cameras, hats and birding materials, and birding gear as well as clothing or repellant against mosquitos. When it is appropriate, bring your cameras and capture some one-of-a-kind photographs.
