How to Score Free Christmas Gifts

Amy Brantley
Whether you have a large list or on a budget, free Christmas gifts can always come in handy. You may be thinking that a free gift is wishful thinking. After all, where are you going to find a free gift? You'd be surprised at just how easy it can be to score free Christmas gifts. If you need a bit of help this year, these tips are sure to be a lifesaver.

Gift Cards

Many restaurants during the holiday season offer deals where if you purchase so many gift cards, you can get a free card. For example, The Outback Steakhouse offers customers a free $20 gift card if they purchase $100 worth of additional cards. If you have a lot of people on your list, this can be a great way to score a free Christmas gift. It's also a very easy gift that doesn't require a lot of shopping.

Rewards Programs

Chances are you either have a credit card that offers rewards or you're a member of a rewards club, such as MyPoints or Swag Bucks. Either way, this is an easy way to score free Christmas gifts. Simply contact your credit card company and exchange your points for gifts or cash and trade your points in for free gift cards through the reward clubs. Then you can give the recipient a gift, gift card or purchase him a gift yourself.

Freebies

During the Christmas season, many department stores often offer free gifts with purchases. For example, it may be a free cosmetic bag with the purchase of a perfume. There are also many buy one get one free specials to be found. Some stores even offer shoppers free gifts just for coming in for special sales. If you're shopping for some of these items anyway, you might as well take advantage of the free gifts.

Memberships

Last, but not least, another great way to score free Christmas gifts is by signing up for memberships. Magazine publishers, satellite companies, book clubs and banks are just a few of the many places that offer free gifts for signing up for their services. Granted not all of the gifts make a good Christmas present. For example, some may feature the name of the company on the gift. Some companies though offer great gifts that are sure to please someone on your Christmas list, such as MP3 and DVD players.
