Cleaning the bracelet can be done with sterling silver cream. Purchase a small jar, with a soft cloth place a small amount on the rag. Wipe the bracelet getting all dirt and tarnish if any off the bracelet. Once done rinse with warm water, pat dry with a towel, and return to storage container.
Sterling silver bracelets should be stored in an air tight container as gases from the air can tarnish the bracelet leaving green and black tarnish on the bracelet.
With getting scratches off a sterling silver bracelet is almost totally impossible. There is a process a jeweler can do, however, the cost to have the bracelet polished is more then the bracelet it's self.
To restore a bracelet or any sterling silver with a scratch in it is a very long process and time consuming. First there needs to be some filing done on the bracelet. This is done very carefully as the more that is filed or sanded down the more metal is lost in the bracelet and could cause breakage from the thinness in the metal.
Once the scratch is gone there is filling with metal to fill in the area where the metal was sanded to keep the shape and size of the sterling silver bracelet. Once that is completed then polishing needs to be done several times.
This is important to know before purchasing a sterling silver bracelet. A person needs to take extra care when wearing a sterling silver bracelet. Taking off the bracelet and placing in a save air tight container will preserve the bracelet from scratching. Place a soft cloth in the container when putting the bracelet away.
No matter what type of sterling silver jewelry or item care and preservation needs to be used to keep the item scratch and tarnished free.
