How I See Myself, Affects Everything I Do

I said it. How I see myself, affects everything I do. I'll tell you how this works.

Gratitude

I've been working on a gratitude journal now, for the past two years. I can tell you that I see myself now, as a person that has many abilities and that I can overcome anything. I used to throw pity parties for myself all the time. As for what I ever got from my pity parties, I guess it was just the satisfaction of knowing that I had a right to feel bad.

Pity Parties

I never really got much joy out of pity parties. Pity parties were lonely and boring. It's amazing that nobody ever wants to come to another person's pity parties.

Satisfaction

I got a lot more satisfaction by developing an attitude of gratitude. I know what you're saying, what the heck is this guy talking about?

Habit

We, as human beings, are creatures of habit. I got into the habit of being grateful for anything and everything that I could do or have. It's a lot more satisfying to think about what you're grateful for; than it is, to be stuck in pity all the time.

Self-Improvement

Now, we get to the area of self-improvement. A lot of people in self-improvement will tell you to use affirmations. But, one of the problems with using affirmations is that little tiny voice in the back of your head that knows, that what you're saying isn't true. That little voice by itself can sabotage your self-improvement efforts.

The Little Voice

What I've come up with is a way that you can bypass that little voice in the back of your head and get it to agree with your affirmations by showing it proof that what you're saying is true. This, by itself; will greatly increase your self-improvement benefits and will allow you to have a much happier life.

Grateful

Every day you write down what you're grateful for. It can be anything really. The best way is to start with the simple things and then go on to the bigger things that require more-thinking; for example, it's easy to think that I can walk and talk. It's harder to think about all of the specific luxuries that I'm able to enjoy. When doing this, it's important to be specific.

Attitude Of Gratitude

Through developing an attitude of gratitude, I start to see myself, in a new light. I no longer see myself as the pathetic loser that I used to be, I see myself as a winner who has all of these great qualities. I can see myself as a lovable human being who is deserving of love. I can see myself, as someone who is not only smart and capable of many things; and, I also see the potential in myself to overcome whatever obstacles-that life might throw in my path.

How I See It

This is a better way to live life; and I can say that I know from experience that how I see myself, affects everything I do. And, that's a fact.
